It's 4am in England and I wouldn't be awake at this time normally but my baby (cat) Piper has kidney failure and with the heat today she really hasn't been well so I came to bed earlier and then awoke about 2am and have given her some cooked chicken and fresh water and sat with her while she fell asleep . So I wouldn't normally put my phone on either but there you are talking about sleep and stress relief plants and thank you just what I needed . I love lavender and have 4 large plants in my garden it's so lovely when you brush past them and it makes the bees so happy Blessing to you xx

Wonderful Terri thank you. This is so apt for now isn't it. Such worrying stressful times. I'm cultivating my own tiny therapy garden, mostly in pots but I have use of a small greenhouse too for now. Can I ask two things? Which carrier oil is best for these infusions and can you include Lemon Verbena with this collection of herbs? It's my favourite one as I love the strong lemon smell, mixed in with lemon balm.
@DanusIrishHerbGarden4 жыл бұрын
I generally use extra virgin olive oil for my infusions - mainly because I make soap with most of the infusions. I love Lemon Verbena as well for its smell so I would certainly add it to infusions or tea. Great idea making a therapy garden - it's what women always did in the past.

Catherine, thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it. All I can suggest is, believe deep down that you really deserve a piece of land. Spend some intentional time visualising yourself walking your land, smelling the earth, the air and the plants. Hear the bees and the breeze. Feel the sun on your skin. Visualisation along with "feeling" physical sensations are reputed to help. xx

Terri, I've heard that with pass flora caerulea, the leaves must be boiled. Do you agree and if so, how long for? Would ordinary infusion be enough? Also could you advise on amount?
@DanusIrishHerbGarden4 жыл бұрын
Dear Lyn, like many foods that we eat, such as linseed, lima beans, cherries, peaches and many more, my Passiflora contains glycosides that generate cyanide when the leaves are broken. It is a protective response by the plant to prevent it being eaten. Boiling the leaves, or preparing them in boiling water will certainly reduce the cyanide content. I would not recommend it be taken for too long though. Thanks for the question. Personally, I would infuse in boiling water for 20 mins using about 1 tsp of herb.

Treat yourself to a good wild flower book so that you can identify plants. After a while it will come naturally. If it is St John's Wort, Hypericum perforata, it will leave a reddish stain on the fingers when you rub the flowers or buds
