If you're going to mention red Amethyst & green amethyst, then say "purple is what makes it an amethyst"; then you need to explain WHY red & green amethysts are called that. Are they re-named Quartz? Are they entirely different gemstones just given a new name to increase sales?

Red is in reference to the presence of the mineral hematite, it doesn't take away from the fact that without the presence of iron, the mineral that gives it it's purple hue, it wouldn't be an amethyst, red or otherwise.

...but to that there is also an exception (as there is to nearly every rule). Axinite, often found at high elevations, will also give a quartz crystal a purple hue but wouldn't be considered an amethyst. Just figured I would add that before somebody feels the need to correct me. But for all General intents and purposes, everything in this post is accurate, considering the above-mentioned (axinite) is so much more rare than amethyst

Crystal healing is Psuedo-Science. My belief in crystals resonates with my belief in the law of attraction. If you believe these crystals can help you , they will help you. Don't " c'mon guys " as if it's something stupid to believe in. Chakra meditation is very powerful & very successful. Everything in this universe vibrates at different frequencies.
