A similar event like this will happen in my series, but because it has logic from Stories of Sodor, Thomas presses charges for assault, and Spike and Rarity end up in prison. Despite the words of Edward and Twilight saying Thomas deserved it, Topham and Celestia remind them what Spike and Rarity committed a crime and must follow Sodor law. Luckily, after Spike and Rarity get out, they apologize to Thomas, who also apologizes to them.
