Most players are just low elo or unranked so they gauge champion difficulty based on how hard it is to make it work for them, not how hard it is to play ideally.

@@viltzz6544 "Floor" is how difficult the champion is to function with. For example if you have 0 games on a champion, how many games do you need to be able to not be useless? "Ceiling" is how many games you need to master the mechanics of a champion, and even when you "master", how many variables can still be improved. Basically champions with many possible combinations and many multifaceted uses of their kit. Zed, Ezreal, Yasuo and Ekko are good examples of relatively low floor, but have high ceilings. Aphelios and Rengar are good examples of a champion with a high floor but not a high ceiling, because once you figure out how his guns work, he is not a hard champ, he is actually more or less a ranged statchecker, Rengar sort of similar, once you get a hang of his gameplay with bushes and passive, he is more or less a statchecker too. Examples of high floor AND high ceiling would be champs like Nidalee and Gangplank, where if you are below Diamond and someone locks them in, just dodge the game if you want to win.

He has both the highest floor and ceiling. The floor is learning combos, the ceiling is learning to apply his VARIOUS built-in utility. A very few people can perform as Aphelios in a long term, even the best streamers and high elo players constantly make mistakes like fighting with a wrong gun and going for the worst (of 2) ults. Meanwhile Ezreal is just spamming Qs. By the same logic the player from the video used, Syndra is the hardest champ in the game: she has 3 skillshots! And "you can't land skills hot all the time" :'((( ! Considering how Ezreal has mobility and can deal dmg non-interactively it breaks me into laughter people even consider him the hardest.

Aphelios is hard because he has a lot of features, he is harder to just pick up and play, but once you learn aphelios, there is nothing mechanically demanding that makes or breaks your game. Ezreal is much easier for the average player to just pick up and play, but you can continue to improve mechanically on Ez basically forever

As a diamond adc main, I see lots of people fighting about Aphelios vs Ezreal which one is hardest, etc. But for me my respect always goes to adc players that pick kogmaw without having lulu support, truly the most brave players out there. In all seriousness now, I love all adc’s and what they have to offer (although Samira is a bit too ridiculous, I’m not a fan of her kit, feels like it’s too much of a stretch of how playing adc should feel) but for me kalista is the perfect adc 😍 the amount of kiting + spacing + knowing when to be aggressive, among other things required to be fully engaged with her is just super satisfying.

Problem with playing ezreal in higher elos is that people know that they can block your skillshots so you won't actually kill anyone because once they start to get low everyone is just going to jump in front of your Spells to peel for the low health target.

The thing about ezreal is he’s super self reliant. For you to play ezreal well in solo queue it’s way harder than playing aphelios well in solo queue. Aphelios has no movement speed/mobility.

Thing is aphelios can definately turn a bad engage into a winning teamfight. Ezreal in the same situation will have to kite everyone one by one and eventually manage to stall for long enough so his mates start reviving. He doesn't even have waveclear to defend. His one and only way of holding the game is literally going singed style honeytrap on them with bad positioning so that they keep following you instead of getting objectives lmao

Simpler champs put a greater emphasis on macro or other micro-interactions(aka knowledge checks), and since these are naturally unintuitive it’s easy to feel like someone like Garen is harder than he really is. This in turn explains why he has a low mastery curve, as in you can figure out the vast majority of his nuances in like 50 games if you limit test. Limit testing with riven on the other hand will take an obscenely higher amount of games if you’re looking to become Viper, or shit even baseline competent with her in lane.

Gravitum is hardest to burn because it's the only one that REQUIRES an attack target to spam Q and burn through it. Most times in the game you won't want to sit still and do nothing by a wave or camp whilst you wait to burn your weapon on the target, it's just inefficient. So it will always take longer to get rid of Gravitum than any other weapon.

aphelios gravitum is a form of control, it pairs very well with calibrum (for poking/peeling) or sometimes even infernum where it can slow and root everyone in an area. I suppose its not a poggers press button to kill like infernum, but it has its uses.

One thing about skillshots people tend to forget in analysis like this is that you don't need to be able to click an enemy directly. This has quite a few advantages too, and it makes kiting a lot easier. Biggest downside i'd say is that its easy to bodyblock ezreal's damage, and he doesn't have any mechanics for shredding tanks.

i agree, ezreal after 3-4 items starts to fall off compared to hyper carry adcs, if we talk straight DPS. on the other hand, ezreal can be throwing Q at all time and still being safe, his E makes it possible for him to take risks to poke or dps without being punished too hard for it. As for other ADCs, they usually need to wait for engages to happen, CCs to be on cooldowns before they go right in or actually full DPS. So i think it has a lot to do with set up and how your team works.

Diving is flashy and all that man but front to back fundamentally is gonna be the most consistent way to win games and the way the pros use, their fundamentals are just better so they will put dps the enemy adc just by living.

So I mained EZ for a season, could win every game in lane get fed af, but didn’t ever out damage aoe adc’s in late game team fights. Especially if my team was behind in a solo que game…I’m just speaking from my experience on progression through gold and one game from plat. Yes I’m not that great, but this has been my experience. Also when’s the last time you saw pros winning worlds on an ez? Seems to me like there’s a reason they go for kaisa, jinx, cait, etc… every time I see an ez in pro play they shit the bed except on rare occasions… and back line can be hit from proper spacing and fog of war usage…and I’m not talking at the start of a fight… of course everyone would immediately take a dump on your face if that was the case…

I'd agree if Ezreal would have any meaningful cooldowns. He takes no skill until you reach elite elo. Simple as that. The reason low elo ezreals don't thrive is because they heavily underestimate his power.

That's crazy I'm in gold, and Ezreal is really the only champion I hardly ever lose on. And now fiction is saying he's one of the highest skill ceiling adc champs in the game and he's the most broken if you are good on him. That's why I pretty much only play Ezreal, Tristana, Caitlyn.

His skill ceiling is still not the highest. He is one of the safest adcs. There are adcs that are way harder with very unique playstyles

Skill ceiling does not mean how safely you can play, in that case just stand in fountain. It's how to get the highest dps effectiveness. For adcs that means ezreal, kalista and draven.

@@Fredd747 ezreal has a lower skill ceiling because he has a flash built into his kit, giving him a larger margin of error compared to adcs like kalista and draven where if you move to close to their frontline you die.

@@tehchonka5031 Again, how safe the champion is, is not as important as how difficult it is to make the champ as efficient as possible. Mastering kalista does not require you to learn any new skills as an ad player, just to be very good at those skills. Ask anyone in high elo, ezreals ceiling is top 3 if not number 1 highest ceiling.

@hellboygaming1067 It's arguable true. Draven is hard too but to maintain max dps on him you have to understand 1 core concept, axes. It really depends what you find harder. I say ezreal is more difficult because the higher rank you reach landing skillshots gets harder. At least with draven (provided you catch axes) you are guaranteed the dmg. Ezreal requires you to land skillshots while also autoing. Not to mention his w does nothing on its own it has to be combined. Safety is debatable, you're right he's far more safe but you sacrifice a lot of dps. If you're playing that way in an actual teamfight you lose the fight by just playing safe and throwing q's.

I remeber a game, when I hit like 95% of my spells, I think I never played so good in my life as ezreal. I had like 80k dmg to the second having 56k. But we still ended up loosing.

There are quite a few ADCs that have more DPS all game than ezreal even if you hit every skillshot.

As an Aphelios main, he's exactly the contrary to Ez. Ez is very easy to use but very hard to master. Aphelios is (along with Draven) the hardest ADC to learn, but he's very easy to play once you know him well. He's not even in the top 10 hardest ADCs imo.
