I'm thrilled too about your recovery, keep on exercising to get the rest back also. You are so right about tools, as long as you can, carry multiple different tools - if you're stuck with one tool only, you'll have to make the best of it and will quickly discover its limits. Nice little draw knife, I recently saw someone putting a stick to the tip of his knife for an improvised draw knife (friction-fit) - maybe I'll drill a hole in my big blade with a small diamond crown for a more secure attachment. Wishing you the very best, keep us updated.

First, I am extremely happy that you are doing so well. You are a very blessed man to have come out of it with very little damage. Now, I don't want to add to your workload. but that little draw knife would work wonderfully well to shape a piece of wood to make revolver grips from. What popped into my head was a raw branch still attached to the tree that had approximately the correct shape. Strip the bark, and take off most of the excess wood while its still attached to the tree. then start the project once the wood dries out. I have never been much of a wood worker. I can build things, but its going to have to be covered up by something. I just do not have those skills.

Nice to see you back in action Blackie. You are a resilient fellow and a survivor. That drawknife looks super lightweight and the holes to attach hand loops is a great idea. Some wide leather straps attached to some split rings would probably make comfortable holds for it.

Blackie I'm thrilled to hear you are doing well and you have your southern sound back. That's strange about your fingers. I had similar issues after having chemo in 2005. Some nerve damage corrects itself after a while, and some stays with us. I'm glad yours is only minimumal. That's a cute little draw knife, and probably would be very handy. It's your determination, your faith, and your love of God and family that got you through this so well. The bills will be high but will be taken care of. Everything takes time. Looking forward to your next video brother. Take care and God bless.

Hi Blackie! so very happy to hear you are on the mend... Have had you in my thoughts and prayers! I myself am a Canadian Silver Wolf up here in Northern Ontario... I started hunting aand tapping when I was 10 or 12 years old, hunting Ruffef Grouse and Snowshoe Hare with my Diana .177 pellet rifle , trapping started with snaring Snowshoe Hares and setting either #1 long spring or #110 Conibear for Muskrat. I gradually worked up to trapping Beaver with #3 Victor double long spring on the dams with a drowning set or #330 Conibear at slides or at dam sites... We snared Beaver under the ice around the feed beds and at the entrances to the lodges. We snared fow and wolf with locking snare sets around the Beaver ponds also. I am now halfway thru my 65th year and was medically retired around 16 years ago, using a combination of prescription and non-prescription meds I am generallyable to function normally with some things in reach and others not so much, but I get out to the bush as often as I can.. this years hunting season was rough and not very productive, only got out for 1 afternoon hunt. I am VERY lucky to have 2 grown sons who help their"Old Man" keep the freezer topped off with walleye, northern pike and bass as well as venison, ducks, geese and grouse... Thanks so much for your excellent content, and I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Brad Davis North Bay, Ontario Canada

I am glad to hear that you are recovering well! I have a small Flexcut draw knife that comes in very handy. It is a little bigger than the one you showed here, but still very packable. It has wood handles and is comfortable to use. They are priced in the mid $30's on Amazon.

So happy you are doing well and, that your accent is back. I find it very comforting listening to you talk. It is because of you that I have purchased a medium alice pack to modify the way you did,( mostly). I kept the inner pouch and turned it into a sleeve for a small laptop for my photography. Now the search is on for an M65 field jacket. I've always wanted one. You keep on getting healthy. Hope your Thanksgiving was filled with family, friends and joy.
