27 years as a LPN. I finish my Bachelor’s in Healthcare Management in April 2023. I plan to apply for a MHA/MBA right after completion of my Bachelor’s. You have given me a wealth of information and opened my eyes to so many things. I’m starting my degrees late. I’m 49. I won’t finish my maters I until around 53. That fact makes me nervous but outside of that I am looking forward to this transition. I am tired of floor nursing and your channel has opened my eyes to the many directions I can go. I’m looking forward to learning more. Thank you!

I too am 45 years old I will graduate in December 2025 with my BSHA and am thinking I want to do a MBA/MHA or just do an MBA-Healthcare Management. By the time I finish, I'll be just shy of 50. This is a career change for me I'm having a hard time getting entry-level jobs anywhere in health care. I have a lot of leadership/management experience in another industry but no formal medical administration experience. In addition to the gratification of graduating I at least want to make it into a management job in a health care capacity.

Hello Courtney, I do agree with the Healthcare Administration Degree or field without having clinical. Every Healthcare Industry will always need Human Resources, Project Management, Accounting, Finances, Information Technology, and Healthcare Policies without even working inside any clinical field. I have completed a Bachelors of Business and Masters of Healthcare Administration with Project Management Courses. My primary occupation is working Human Resources and Licensed inside the Insurance Industry. Retired US Army Veteran

The hospitals in TMC in Houston says on the jobs when you apply that your degree has to be from an accredited school. Definitely second doing your research and looking up jobs you might be interested/places you may want to work to see what they require
@CourtneySharea3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Do the hospitals in TMC say which accreditation the school must have i.e, CAHME, etc.? Accreditation is definitely important because you don’t want your money to go to waste, many employers do not specify which accrediting body the school must accredited with.

Thank you for this video! I will definitely subscribe. I’m currently a nurse and so i see why so many of them were upset at your TikTok lol! But i don’t think that excuses their comments to you. Sorry you had to deal with that. It’s unfortunate! However, more nurses should definitely be in leadership positions.

I've been an LICSW for 20 years. Direct clinical/Therapy/Crisis Services. I am thinking of an MPH now or possibly an MBA in HAS. I am tired of being in the trenches and seeing peers and new grads get micromanaged and abused by Behavioral Health Admin. Most of these managers are burned out social workers that have moved up the ladder for kissing ass. When, as a clinician, you are dealing with tremendous vicarious trauma via working with psychosis, suicidal and or homicidal clients due to MH Dx or Substance Misuse, along with Vicarious Trauma and moral injury, the LAST thing you need to have is a person way up on the ladder shouting orders, micromanaging, making mandated clinical decisions when they do not have clinical experience (young managers usually). With patient issues pressuring below, and admin pressure above. your head is in a vice grip. Lately I have been leaning towards MBA in HSA and focus on BMed. My fear is facing Ageism as I look for a new health Admin position. Would the company want a mid level career recruit with some experience, or a new grad who already has an MSW and has done clínical work for 20 years?

Hi thank you for making your videos, they are very informative. I change my major from nursing to Healthcare administration. I realize after 2 years of college that nursing wasn't for me. I will be taking my healthcare administration classes next semester, but I am very scared. I don't know if I made the right decision; I am somehow a quiet person, I just like to get my work done. I also love sales managers. My first manager had a degree in nursing, but she realized that she wanted to help people differently and become a sales manager. Is it possible to become a store(sales) manager or an accountant with a degree in Healthcare Administration?
@justinabenson72293 жыл бұрын
Okay, I was in the same situation a year ago, switched from Nursing to HCA, and I know a lot of people who have done same so you are not alone. I recommend you do a lot of self research in regards to the scope of this practice as it is very broad. You could do a lot with it however if your goal is to be a CPA (Accountant) then no not with this degree, as you would be required to have an Accounting degree, however you can become a Health service manager, coordinator, CFO, CEO, Administrator, Health consultant, some health informatics career and more with this degree by properly doing research, and leveraging your experience and opportunities. Goodluck

I’m currently enrolled to get my MHA. The school I’m going to is not CAHME accredited. Do most companies look for that when you apply or is for those trying to do fellowships?
@CourtneySharea2 жыл бұрын
Some employers care about CAHME, most of them don’t. Ensuring that your program is accredited is important though. Accreditation matters for fellowships. Do your research on fellowships to see if there is an accrediting body trend amongst them. This info will tell you if you need to switch to a CAHME accredited program.

I am over 50 yrs old and always wanted a degree in Health Care . I am not sure if I get my degree from distance learning school Accreditor DEAC will help me move around or be able to do a lateral move . Will employer take my degree seriously ? I currently work in health insurance and not sure if I want to move up but I do want to enjoy what I am doing and want to do a lateral move if I want to learn a different task . Do you think graduating from DEAC accreditor will be taken seriously ? I choose this route because I work full time and want to keep the cost low . Thank you.
