I’m a corporate Rev Cycle Manager, and I agree. It’s the BEST. I’ve been in the field for 22 years and in management for 15. I still love it. If you are trying to get your foot in the door with little or no experience or school, try to find a payment posting or patient access job in a LARGE healthcare provider or RCM company and work your way up. You can always get certified later to start making more money. Healthcare is a job that offers job security, and you get to help people. What more can you ask for? I will say, if you don’t love numbers or problem solving, this isn’t for you. If you love money AND analyzing and solving problems…. You’ll love RCM.

Do I need a college degree to get certified or obtain a position in RCM? After obtaining my CPC I want RCM as my next credential
@SoulShiner11152 жыл бұрын
@@MsLove2Inspire No. There are certifications you can get. My certification is through the HFMA, and I just bought the manual and studied at home for 6 months then took the test. Although you will get higher paying positions more easily with a college degree, they aren’t always required. I don’t have a degree and have held positions up through Senior Management, because I was certified and had work experience.

Hi! Do you think medical billing would be a great start to get into RCM?
@SoulShiner1115 Жыл бұрын
@@ebbzexclusives Absolutely. That’s where I started. Billing or collections (claims follow up, not collecting from patients directly) are both really good places to start and grow your experience.

I just called about a job posting. I was asked if I have worked in RCM. I had no idea how to answer because Revenue Cycle Management sounded intimidating. I’ve been doing this for the past four years. 🤦🏻♀️I feel so dumb. The people I’ve been working for just don’t bother explaining why I’ve been what I’ve been doing.
