I'm a Salvadorian living here in Canada (Quebec) for over 40 years, I understood the message you were sharing & yes here in Canada you enter the Emergency room and it's 8 hours min. waiting time with priority to kids & elderly, my friend had to wait 24 hrs before seeing the doctor...I have decided to come back (to stay for good) to my country after a wonderful 2 week vacation last year, I felt very secure with my whole family...I'm looking for the possibility to buy a house with BTC. In the states I needed an appointment to see a specialist and they told me October 6,It is August 5 when requested ,because they're booked up; gotta wait 2 months 😱. I really wish full recovery to your wife ❤

A couple a years ago took me 36 hours to wait to get service in a public emergency room in the States. At that time I read in Twitter somebody complaining about 8 hours waiting in a public emergency room in El Salvador for his son to get treatment for a broken arm. I wrote in an answer about my experience in the States in Public Health System and how lucky he is at least in he waiting time in El salvador and "for free". In the States, public or not, there always a bill to pay of hundreds or thousands of dollars. For an emergency is always thousands in any hospital if you don't have any insurance. I'm glad she is doing it well

I think you're talking more about infrastructure/equipment than the basic treatments itself, unless it's very specialized treatments it can be done with not so advanced technology. But yeah, we need to do better but, budget doesn't allow it. I can even say that comparing prices/results from both countries El Salvador wins over the US, at least here people are not denied life-saving tests or treatments, especially considering that life expectancy in El Salvador is 75 years old while in the US is 76 years old.

I'm Happy that your wife is doing fine and i thank you for your comments about El Salvador Health care ,I'll share a little bit of my story to you and this is in regards to the comment you made is this would have been a major treatment like cancer,we live in the U S in North Carolina,my wife has been going to the doctor here for all her routine check ups even though she felt something was not right in her system doctors never diagnose her any thing.in one our trips to El Salvador she went to the doctor and right away they found something wrong we took the samples to the specialist she was diagnose with cancer stage 3...she took the treatment in El Salvador it took about 3 months..this happened about 6 years ago,if it wouldn't haven for the health care system and doctor in El Salvador my wife would have passed away 5 years ago..Now she is very happy and healthy...

I am sorry you went through that experience, and thank you for sharing with us. If our public health system is treating all patients this way, it is a huge improvement over some years ago. I hope this is the case and your experience is now the rule, rather than the exception.

Our experience seems to suggest that healthcare is in a state of rapid improvement across the country. At San Rafael we observed a large cache of old, outdated equipment stored in the courtyard, and the equipment used to treat Jessica was brand new, including an X-ray machine more advanced than anything we have ever seen in Canada. It seems clear that El Salvador is investing heavily in healthcare, and this is consistent with its investments in crime reduction, infrastructure, and education. With that said, conversations with locals since this video was filmed have informed us that apart from a few exceptions, these healthcare improvements are largely concentrated in the major urban centres, and that need still exists in the more rural areas. We are confident that in time, all of El Salvador will benefit from these initiatives.

Ihave been in Edmopnton , Canada for the past 38 years and anybody could spend 8 hours waiting in an Emergency Room ... The cost of riding an ambulance is about Five hundred dollars just to get to emergency . The ambulance is not free... I visited El Salvador in January 2023 and i had to go to San Rafael Hospital ..I was feeling sick , vomiting plus i fell and had injured my forehead ( needed some stitches ) . They took care of me , Put me in a wheelchair , Gave me something for my vomit in a I V . Close the wound in my forehead ..all in about 5 and a half hours .I was very thankful . I keep telling Salvadoreans that Sometimes i feel El Salvador is better than Canada for a lot of reasons , however i am not ready to move back because i wouldnt know how to make a living and feel like iam not ready .. But El Salvador is not what i left in the 80s thats for sure . Many Canadians that I know are not happy here in Canada and are only waiting to retire and move somewhere else .

Hi, I live in Germany where public health care is basically free and available to anyone. The quality is up to a very high standard and the waiting time in an emergency unit is about what you experienced in El Salvador but can also be longer. Here they prioritize the emergency itself so it's not necessarily first come first serve. But you can be sure you are treated adequately. Our prrivate health care is being financed by every employed person because a certain percentage from around 15-17% will be deviated from your monthly gros income. Everything is covered with no extra cost except for dental care. But even here a very basic care is covered. I am aware of the general american mind saying this is like comunism. But name it as you want, this system saved me an eye through surgery, got my appendix removed, provided me with an important knee surgery and helped me in so many ways. I am also aware of that in the US the before mentioned treatments would have plunged me into deep depth every single time or I would not have been able to receive that necessary treatment. So guess who doesn't care about how americans in general call this system. For us it just works and it works very well since many decades. There is private health inssurance available which might apply for some private clinics or some priveliges in public clinics such as a single room or being treated by the chief of the hospital. But private inssurance here is basically mostly for any self-employed person, these are basically excluded from the public health inssurances. Having said all that, I am thoroughly surprised by the Salvadorian health system. It's great to hear that you can receive a first class treatment even on the private sector that doesn't cost you a leg while your finger is being treated..;-) Thanks for that informative video! Salvadoran here, we pay 14% flat for health care but, 7% is paid by us workers and 7% by our employers. I think we have the same system including how emergencies are always a priority in everything, including surgeries. They went to a primary care unit (which are everywhere), not an emergency hospital, those are faster and with better facilities but few in between. The private sector here is not so expensive, medicine prices are regulated to avoid the US nightmare, so most extra charges are related to private tests and equipment, I can't even imagine having the inhumane US healthcare system and their entitlement.
