We do not know what the computer capabilities of SSA are and the process involved in recalculating millions of benefits. However, we do know that the agency has been understaffed and underfunded for many years. That will have an impact on their ability to quickly implement the new law.

I can imagine scammers claiming to be "insiders" who can get your backpay faster. But as a whole, I think public employees are a smarter group than that and won't fall for it. I always check your facebook page for the latest updates. You are always current and on point. Thanks for your great info. It's kept me going since Nov 12.

When WEP/GPO repeal actually passed, it was similar to when the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004 - combo of disbelief and elation.

I can create a flowchart in five minutes for the programmers. Government always take WAY longer than needed.

A flow chart is likely not the problem. We suspect that is there is a delay it will likely be caused by antiquated computer systems. However, until word comes from the SSA directly we simply do not know.

Where is AI? If it takes more than a month, they should pay INTEREST on the back pay.

We do not know if SSA uses AI tech or not. We do know that they have been understaffed for years and that WEP/GPO repeal was not something that they planned to have to tackle. We want to see our members get their money ASAP. the Congressional leadership has made it clear that they want to know the implementation plan and see it carried out ASAP. Our hope is that this gets moving in a matter of weeks and not months, but right now we simply do not know.

@@shawnduhamelThanks for your response .Nothing in your video say the exact time when Social Security is going to implement the Fairness act.Social Security have no reason wait so long they have everyone information they took money from for years including me.I even appealed because they hit me with an overpayment because of my pension an I won social security made the adjustments an still reduced my benefits because of my public employee pension an my employer did not pay into social security at the time.Still no excuse for social security to wait so long the implement the fairness act.

@@lovelove-er9lq I retired on 3 Aug 1990 In Va. and was hit by wep and gpo on retirement. I have 40 quarters and almost 3 yrs I worked to retire . I retired at 6 0 yrs of age they offered an early out.I stayed home and worked my 40 quarters. Had non payment of about 11yrs fica.
