I think the ability to stop gangs and cartels from getting the money and instead sending that money to the gov't should be enough, but there's also the fact that it's pretty much a victim less crime yet thousands of people are in prison for it.

As a former everyday smoker I can say that whatever anyone might tell you, if not for medical reasons you should not make a habit of smoking it everyday. For me the turning point was when I lost reality for 2 hours. I was high as a kite and thought me and my friends had the same strain of thoughts and we could communicate trough thinking. I started to doubt reality and when my friends tried explaining that i was wrong and acting weird I actually got realy scared. I was so sure I was right. It felt so incredibly real. After that I stopped smoking. My friends got realy scared by it because I was acting like a lunatic. I was not my self. Since then I still have flashbacks to tripping. Occasionally I still feel like the colors are brighter and my hands look realy yellow. It makes me scared. Like i'm not in control of my own feelings. I use breathing patterns to calm myself down and after some time the colors become normal again. Honestly whatever anyone say's to make weed look better, It is still a way to improve reality. Ask yourself, why need a substance to improve reality? Isn't it good enough? Maybe you should think about improving reality then instead of bypassing the problem by using something while you should be out fixing reality. PS: I'm not judging, I know how hard it can be and how much fun weed can be. But please don't be that guy who says there is nothing bad about weed. I know how it made me feel in the end and the detox was not funny at all.

Personally I wish there was more access to different options for PTSD, I already have breathing issues, so I wouldn't want to take any medication that is smoked, but in my country it's illegal to get medical marijuana in a non-smoked form. Personally MDMA looks the most promising, but as long as therapeutic drugs are blocked because of their recreational uses, ill people lose out. It's happening where I live with opiates, it's happening all over with marijuana. And MDMA despite being incredible in studies, is almost universally inaccessible. So instead for me it's disability cheques and SSRIs.

+Chronically Me I remember from my youth in the late 60's that eating good quality herb can produce a lot of the same effects as smoking it so if smoke is an issue for you then you should really try it for your PTSD. We used to add an extra egg or two per ounce of herb for a box mix of brownies but the stuff available now is a great deal stronger than the trash we have back then. I hope you find relief.

It's best not to smoke it anyway. Eating is better, but then you waste a lot of the effect due to digestion. Vaping is 100% safe and maintains most potency as well, so that's your best bet. There's no reason to worry about your lungs with vaping. You buy smokable marijuana, and then, instead of smoking, use a vaporizer.

@Tom John: Go against present country and U.S. state recreational marijuana legalization because it continually supports criminal organizations. For example, plethora of criminal organizations and individual criminals were caught exploiting recreational marijuana legalization by owning/operating facilities to get Colorado marijuana to sell it both in and outside of Colorado according to (The Legalization of Marijuana in Colorado The Impact Volume 5: Page 4). These examples out of many more proves recreational marijuana legalization continually attracts and supports criminal organizations which increases criminal activity in Colorado and outside the state.

HungryForWater FX. I know right. I hate seeing people say that marijuana *needs* to be doctor administrated. What about if I'm stressed as fuck and a joint is the only thing that helps at the end of the day? I *have* to go to another human and ask them to give me a paper so I can go then take that paper to a dispensary, pay my own money for the pot, then go home, smoke. Feel relaxed and wanting something to eat. Your telling me in too impaired to drive while high? I guess some people don't understand that some others are genuinely not pussies and can drive while high or while having some drinks in them. I'm blessed with genes that I cant get drunk unless I'm smoking too. Even then I dont get "drunk" or even "tipsy" I just get even more giggly and chilled. Perfectly fine motor functions wise in my brain aka no swerving and drifting out of lanes or jerking due to passing out or some other bullshit. Portia Belmont, sorry, but you're misinformed. Brain chemistry can be modified by cannabinoid therapies, and schizophrenia is nothing more than improper signaling and inflammation, both of which can be corrected with the right balance of cannabinoid therapies. Cannabis has been proven to quiet the voices in the head. Studies that show a link of causation were flawed, as was much of the research into cannabis. When funding for your research is dependent on your finding evil in the plant you'll be sure to structure the research to find that evil, even where none exists.

In case you didnt notice this is a science channel. Claims like that need to be substantiated otherwise its no different than snake oil salesman from 100 years ago. Regarding whether MJ cures "cancer", I highly doubt that there will ever be any compound that cures all "cancers". Cancer is a funny word, for a laymen its all cancer, but if you talk to someone who knows what they are talking about there are so many different types of cancer that the cancer label means almost nothing. Winston Smith the better question is, where would the pharmaceutical companies get all their money? nowhere. because they need people on opiates, in other words, keep killing them to make money. weed would solve lots of health issues, hence, no more money for big pharma. that's really all it boils down to when asking the question, "if weed isn't dangerous, why is it illegal and treated like heroin?"
@thegoodness2046
@thegoodness2046 7 жыл бұрын
That's sort of hinted at, or at least the speaker beats around the bush when he says that 'no one wants to fund studies on marijuana.' That's because everyday people have the capability to grow their own marijuana, thereby cutting out the pharmaceutical companies of billions of dollars. It's been shown that marijuana does have medicinal properties. There's no reason for there it being classified as a Schedule I drug in this country. I wish that would've been stated even more than it was.

@ownthevoid 7 жыл бұрын
spooky maddie I mean looking at it practically, marijuana wouldn't kill the pharma industry, just as many people would keep using opiates, but I think marijuana would be a healthy alternative for people that didn't wanna use opiates or other medications.

My father, mother, step father, step mother and one sister dead from cancer. My sister who is still here has cancer. I have been keeping a close eye out for signs that it's in me. But nope I'm 61 and a long family history of cancer in my family. I know I don't have cancer because I have been smoking Canibus for 48 years. I use it for PTSD, eating disorder, chronic back pain, sleeping and playing. I also have Asbergers and it helps me to be able to relax and get out of my head.

That's good and all but you need to learn to manage your anxiety without depending on any external substance. If you keep depending on weed it will get to the point where it won't work anymore, and your anxiety could even worsen, or weed could stop being enjoyable and give more of a numbness feeling. Learn to manage your own emotions by doing things like meditating, swimming or running. Doing this can even make the cannabis experience more enyojable as you reach a more peaceful state of mind.

sigh, i appreciate the attempt, but its all fucked because you didnt separate the actual chemicals in weed. theres thc and cbd. if you smoke weed high in cbd, or just use pure cbd as a dab, oil, etc, you get all of the health benefits, anti cancer, antioxidants, neural protectant, it helps with almost any mental issues from anxiety to ptsd and physical illnesses as parkinsons and seizures, and the effect you get on cbd isnt feeling high, but its like a potent chamomile tea relaxation effect. instantly clears your head of negative thoughts and energies and doesnt inhibit you from driving or operating machinery, you can use it to meditate, etc. thc on the other hand is what has the potential negative side effects, panic attacks, heart rate faster= more chance of heart attack in older people who already have that higher chance, etc. you just cannot do a good job at explaining the effects of marijuana without distinguishing THC and CBD, because they have almost opposite effects, not saying thc is as dangerous as cbd is useful, but thc is what accounts for any of the negative effects, and a few of the good effects like if being high is what helps you relax obviously, and cbd is what has the true legit medical effects that are good for your body and brain. the 1 thing im not sure about is which chemical helps with actual pain relief, I believe thc actually does better in that standard as both cbd and thc connect to cannaboid receptors all throughout your body, and the thc high feeling spreads to give you the body high (more so in indica strains) which acts as the pain relief, but I believe cbd also helps with that without getting you super baked. hopefully this is helpful to anyone who reads it, if not, then sheit oh well. not only do I like weed but I really like learning about it, its a truly fascinating plant, and the fact that theres a truck load of uses for the physical plant itself as hemp in making all sorts of other plant-related things, rope obviously, and theres a lot of others. say if shit goes down and you survive the aftermath of whatever global cataclysm that is pretty much guaranteed to happen, growing a few strains of marijuana not only gives you a variety of medicinal use, but after you harvest the bud for its use, the stems, leaves, and rest of the plant has all its uses and its a bloody beautiful green lush plant anyways that provides oxygen, the smell of dank (some weed can smell skunky, and some smell like a tropical rainforest) is extremely pleasant, theres a reason some people call it the green godess, and yet our totalitarian overlords have deemed not only thc but cbd a schedule 1 drug, worse than heroin, worse than cocaine. they have deemed hemp itself WAY too useful and practical for their industrialized money making schemes, and is way too healthy for the environment for their global destruction agenda. if you read all that, let alone saw this buried comment, thanks.
@lipsbran9646

It is good to see that you like learning about weed, bu you have to keep in mind that having only one cannabinoid in your body won't do much of its medicinal effects because ALL THE COMPOUNDS need to work together. THC is as important as CBD and other compounds and they need to work together. THC is very important do treat epilepsy, depression, and various other diseases and is the MAIN SUBSTANCE responsible for treating or even "curing" cancerigenous cells in animals bodies (no humans experiments have been made yet, only in rats and THC CURED CANCER IN RATS!) The problem with THC is that if a person is anxious and gets a HUGE ammount of THC it can increase the anxiety, leading even in particular cases to panic attacks (which are rare to happen, but it happent to me, for example). But a lot need to be taken into account, for example: type of weed, enviroment and mainly PERSONAL PROBLEMS. If you're smoking weed with high THC amounts in places that is dangerous to do it, with people you don't trust, going through bad personal problems it is likely that you'll have your anxiety increased, but THC isn't a major fact of DEVELOPING anxiety, it just increases it and keeping in mind that anxiety is a 21st century problem it is somehow understandable. CBD helps to keep THC effects controlled, for example. Having hybrid weed or weed with huge ammount of CBD can help to prevent anxiety or panic attacks to occur during the use of the plant. The substance can't be blamed because it is as medical as any other cannabis compounds. Cheers!!

This is a topic we are dealing with in our industry (transportation). As pot becomes legal in many more states, requiring drivers to avoid pot usage several hours before a shift has been challenging since it can't be tested like alcohol. It's a gray area when it comes to someone's rights and protecting passengers and other drivers on the road, and even worse for the businesses that insure these drivers.

I can say that memory loss, for me, was an outcome to heavy marijuana use. Also problem solving skills, and little things like basic math in my head was slowed down quite a bit. I'm not sure how this would affect an adult, bc I'm not quite one yet, (though I am 18 now) but if you heavily smoke at the age of 15, 16, 17, that sort of age group, you will notice memory damage and your thought process is off. It gets better the longer you stay sober, yes. but it'll never be the same. pot is great, love every bit of it. I just hate that I'll never have the mental compasity I once had or would have had.
@CheesyShits

Not to mention I once had a very broad verbal vocabulary (just say here for 30 seconds trying to figure out the right words to use) and that too is worsened. I was also very talented in my writing abilities, and let's say I'm less talented in that now. So, another major outcome is that you fumble with your words a lot, and cannot truly figure out the correct word you want to use. Not without overthinking it, and literally pausing in a sentence just to really focus hard and think of that specific word. I hate it.. And wish I could just have a normal memory and better cognitive skills, but they're faded. And won't ever be clear again. I'm not saying this will happen to everyone, but it's a very possible outcome for many. if you're in high school, really think about how much you smoke and how often. it's not worth the damage. just wait

I have been a huge supporter of the herb for quite some time, on top of that I've been dealing with glaucoma since I was 2 months old. And from what I've been told by my doctor is that marijuana DOES lower the pressure in your eye, but only for 2-3 hours at a time, so you would basically need to smoke throughout the day to get the same results from taking a single eyedrop at night and/or in the morning. So while it does help, its not recommended to substitute your prescription eyedrop with continuous use of marijuana. Great video, and stay safe everyone!!

As a retired veteran, I have 2 herniated disks in my spine as well as a pinched nerve. I have experienced sciatic nerve pain EVERY DAY since the mid-90's. Up until 2 years ago, I was prescribed oxycontin, percocet and hydromorphone and I was up to the 2nd highest dose of hydro that was available. My pain was still present, I had to walk with a cane most of the time. I also have glaucoma, and WAS being treated for depression and anxiety. So in November 2015, Veterans Affairs Canada approved me for medicinal marijuana, and since that time, I have weaned myself off of all the opoid pain killers, the depression meds are cut in half and the anxiety meds are gone. I also have glaucoma for which I've received laser treatment 4 times in my right eye. I notice a difference after working on a computer (I work in data entry) that my eyes will be slightly painful and blurry. On my break, I'll go to my car and vape for about 10 minutes, returning to work with my eyes feeling MUCH better. I don't smoke anything, tobacco or marijuana. I have 3 vaporizers, I also get coconut oil infused with marijuana (I take it straight measured in .50- .75 ml doses) as well I infuse marijuana into butter, and cooking oil to create edibles that allow me to get my pain relief without vaping. Also, as a retired Canadian veteran, all of my medications are paid for. The only thing I have to pay for is ED drugs, since VAC is NOT going to pay for me to have an erection... LOL

It's simple. You have a two different combustion reaction, which yield different products. The first is Tobacco, which goes something like: As(arsenic), nicotine, 500 other toxic compounds, cellulose + fire --> arsenic, nicotine, 500 other toxic compounds + carbon The second is Mary Jane, which goes something like: THC, CBD, 500 other non-toxic compounds, cellulose + fire --> THC, CBD, 500 other non-toxic compounds + carbon

What I know is the person who did this video, didn't spend very much time on researching what we know about pot. Otherwise he would of mentioned epilepsy. There has also never been a single large scale study on marijuana and driving. The effects of a person who has brain damage or a mental disorder and using marijuana while driving has not been studied. The largest twin study were one sibling used marijuana and the other did not showed absolutely no difference in grades or GPA. Also many top college graduates smoked marijuana, many top athletes smoked marijuana and some geniuses smoked marijuana. To say that marijuana use has any effect on IQ is just completely false.

I've done a lot of research and have found out that medical marijuana can sometimes help a whole lot with insomnia (of course it benefiting you depends how your body reacts, just like any other medicine that is given to you). They can make medical marijuana with out the THC-L (the part that gets you high) so that you will only get relaxed and sleep better. I have used a lot of other sleep medicines for my insomnia and they can be abused, just like marijuana, to get high and it can be addicting (depending on how your body reacts to it). I feel like certain kinds of medical marijuana is the exact same as most medicines your doctor prescribes you. As long as we don't abuse it, it should be something that doctors should look more into. Although, with many people not using it medically or abusing it and it being in such the media as a negative thing, it would be a risk. I wouldn't want people to think getting high for enjoyment is okay because it causes a lot of emotional and psychological problems that don't get mentioned that often. That is my opinion on marijuana.

The US Government and people who argue against the legalization of medicinal cannabis always say that not enough research has been done, yet cannabis remains on the 'Schedule I' drug list thus limiting the amount of research that can be done. Hmm.. Cannabis just needs to me moved to a 'Schedule II' drug at the very least so that the proper research can take place without the hassle and restrictions that the government puts on schedule one drugs.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 2012, I was given the normal Metformin pills and one of those little blood sugar monitors. For around 3 months, I was taking my pills but still getting bouts of high blood sugar where I would be constantly thirsty, have a constant need to urinate and my fingers would be tingling. I was always just told to keep taking the pills and if the level got too high I would have to go into hospital and be put on an insulin drip (this only happened once, when I was first diagnosed). Around that time, I started smoking weed. After a few weeks of smoking it maybe once or twice a week, I realised that I was no longer getting high blood sugar for the 2-3 days after I'd smoked. I started hanging around with my stoner friends a bit more in order to see if this would continue or not, sure enough I'd have no problems for 2-3 days, then it would start again, even with me still taking the pills. I feel I should mention, around this time, I woke up one day and felt really bad, I checked my blood sugar, and the monitor wouldn't give me a number, instead just said "HI" (this was when blood sugar was over 24, with the normal range being around 4-8 (don't quote me on that)). I'd already taken my pill, and I had a bit of weed left over from the last time I had smoked, so i rolled one up and smoked it. 5 mins later I was feeling much better, I went and tested myself again, the number was now down to just 7. So by this point I was pretty convinced that weed was helping my Diabetes a lot more than the pills were. A few more months went by, and in that time there were a fair few days where I would forget to take my pills, however on those days, if I had smoked weed a couple of days before, I'd still be fine. So, one week, I decided to give it a shot. I went over to my mates and got high. The next morning, I stopped taking my pills. I had an alarm set on my phone every 2 hours to check my blood sugar, and once more after I ate anything. After 3 days, it was still pretty low but had started to climb up again, so I went back to my mates and got high. After this, that was my process. In my opinion it's a lot better (and easier, and tbh more fun) to go get high and chill out with some friends once every 3 days, than it is to take a pill twice a day. Whilst i was taking the pills I couldn't eat a sugar donut without getting high blood sugar. Now, with smoking every few days, I'm able to eat and drink whatever I want without worry. My point is, whilst this video says there is limited evidence for weed helping Diabetes, I firmly believe that it does help. A lot. I haven't taken my pills in 4 years and haven't had as much as tingling hands since.

Marijuana helps me with my PTSD. I was abused in every way possible when I was age 4 to age 8. This caused me a phobia of other people. When I was still in highschool, I would smoke before school. This would allow me to walk through the crowded halls, sit in the crowded classrooms and lunch room, and fully concentrate on my work without fear of my classmates. I even made friends. We need to make marijuana legal for medical use at the very least.

Major international symposiums on marijuana: Helsinki in 1975, Reims in 1978, Louisville in 1982, Oxford in 1984, Paris in 1992, and New York in 1998. Perhaps the most telling observation/conclusion: The molecular studies reported in this volume (Marijuana and Medicine, 1999) indicate that the multiple medical effects of marijuana may be accounted for by an interaction of the drug with basic regulatory signaling mechanisms of the lipid bilayer and integral receptors of the cell membrane. The unique deregulation of cell membrane signaling by THC impairs the function of the brain synapses, gametes, and cells of the immune system.

I don’t smoke this because of the issues involved in that, but, I use edibles to alleviate the chronic pain that comes post-op for brain cancer surgeries, and it’s complications, as well as for the side effects of chemo treatment that I’m doing now for another(3rd) recurrence. For me, it works to ease pain, and stimulate appetite, which is what I use it for. I’m fortunate that my state allows medicinal use. I support that specific medicinal use over potentially harmful meds like opioids/opiates, which are known to cause direct death, and other complications. Medicinal marijuana, for me, is like using a hammer to tap in a nail while opioids/opiates, are like using a sledgehammer for the same job. Good fact based vid. Thumbs up, and added to favorites. Keep it up, doc.

In my opinion, medical marijuana saved my life. I had a kidney stone with complications last year, and the way they treated it in the ER put me into severe cachexia; I couldn't swallow or keep down a mouthful of food or water. I lost 60 lb over two months. I eventually developed heart failure because of this, and had a minor stroke. My neurologist prescribed medical marijuana for me, and within a few weeks I was eating normally again. I managed to get my strength and stamina back, and I've mostly recovered from the stroke. I consider it a wonder drug. And in reading aoout it, I've discovered that it can have beneficial effects on many of the body's systems.

As much as I like this video, I was expecting a presentation in an impartial manner, but you definitely emphasize "limited" on the negatives, as opposed to the many "limited"'s listed on the positives. Ultimately, what I knew (before this video); was that smoking high THC, low CBD cannabis shows signs of bringing out mental health issues in those whom are susceptible to them. Also that it may have links to Bronchitis in heavy use. On the flipside, it had been shown to be a relaxant for those who suffer anxiety or panic disorders, ease existential dread (particularly in the terminally ill), and of course produce the intoxicating effects we all know it for. Great video overall, but taken with a (dollop) of salt.
