Thank you for the tip!!! I’ve also been wondering if I can add the rooting hormone into the water of my water cuttings to help the process for stubborn cuttings. For example I know that mint is supposed to be easy as I’ve rooted it even unintentionally in a humid cup with shallow water that I forgot to put away in the fridge but the mint that I have this year doesn’t want to root.

I have a Meyer lemon tree. It did well for a couple of years, producing a lot of lemons. But when I moved it into the house this year it died back dropped all leaves and fruit. Decided to transplant. There was only a small clump of roots left. Can I use this to stimulate the roots and get it to grow again

@donchaulklin5135, You can use this to stimulate roots to grow. I would use it every third watering. However, one thing of importance. When you repotted it recently, did you move it to a smaller pot? When you repot, you want 2/3 root to 1/3 potting soil in the pot.

I'm propagating pothos, and zebra plant in water, its been just under 2 weeks and am starting to see small roots! Can I add this stuff to the water that they're in to help them root before moving it to soil?

@Quisang1, I think you are asking if you can put the stem cutting in the rooting hormone directly until it starts to root? The rooting hormone used in this video is a powder and rooting requires water to occur, which is why you would want to put a small amount of rooting hormone into the water.

@user-xu9sh7sd6y, It won't make old seeds germinate, but once the seeds do germinate it will help the new plants develop roots more quickly, and a stronger root system. The lemon seeds in the video had already rooted and the plants are small.

@darkshadowsx5949, too much rooting hormone will harm the plant, causing it to not root, if it hasn't rooted yet, and if it has, it can cause root dieback, as well as foliage loss. In particularly excessive amounts it can cause plant death. So just use a small amount!

Megan, if you are referring to spraying the solution on growing stems, no, it's not for that, as it is for root development. However, if you are referring to succulent stems that you want to root, then yes, you can use it on the root nodes to stimulate root growth, but in that case you would brush it on when it's dry. ​@@HealthyHouseplants If we're talking IBA - You can use it on a particular branch if you want it to gain apical dominance, or spray the whole plant to diminish apical dominance effects and have everything grow at a more even rate. I've tried it on a few different varieties and the effect seems to be robust, no surprise considering Auxins are one of the main causes if not even almost the sole cause for apical dominance. As for dose - I have no idea, that's on everyone to find out for themselves. I experimented with it a long time ago and lost all my documentation on a lot of experiments. Wouldn't try it on a plant I hold dear, but experiments with hormones can be quite interesting and succulents are usually easy to propagate from leaves.

1/8 tea spoon to 16 fluid ounces of water. Half a quarter of a tea spoon to half a liter of water. 16 fluid ounces of water = 473.176 milliliters of water to be exact.

And she noted in another comment reply that after watering the plant with this solution you should be watering it with regular water the next 2 or 3 times and then rewater it with this solution till you get to see a good rooting established on your plant.
