I’m so grateful for a living prophet! Im grateful for my membership in the true Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as a convert I have seen Gods miracles and blessings in my life and I bear witness that Heavenly Father lives, that Jesus is the Christ. Actually, Jesus Himself gave us this standard in Matthew 7:15-20 (KJV): 15 ¶ Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. The fruits of President Nelson and our other modern day prophets are many and wonderful. Moreover, I have received a personal witness from the Holy Ghost that they are prophets of God.

It sure does...but not in the way you think. The Roman Empire coopted and corrupted what was left over from the Church of Jesus Christ in ancient times and then, after murdering the true apostles and followers of Jesus Christ they formed councils to merge paganism and Christianity into the Roman Catholic church which made up the false doctrine of the Trinity and from which most "Christian" religions are branches or break aways. The Trinity is not in the Bible and is an invention of men. Jesus Christ Prayed to His Father (John 17) Heavenly Father spoke from Heaven naming Jesus as "my beloved Son" and the Holy Ghost descended on him "like a dove" (Matthew 3:16-17) Stephen also described the Holy Ghost, Jesus Christ, and Heavenly Father as three seperate beings in Acts 7:55-56: "55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God." Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of Heavenly Father and the Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead who communicates with us and teaches us of truth.

1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 in the KJV states: "20 Despise not prophesyings. 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." This principle especially applies when we hear people in our day who calim to be prophets. The verse you quoted is in 1 John 4:1 in the KJV and in the following verses we learn how to know whether they are of God or of man: "1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error." John was warning the Saints of his day about the apostacy which was happening and which would ultimately destroy the original Christian church as the Romans would murder the true apostles and burn their scriptures and even the bodies of those who would not convert to Catholocism which was a religion of paganism mixed with some elements of Christianity and run by government committees and officials. A restoration was needed and that was what has happened in these last days. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the restored Church of Jesus Christ on the earth today with Prophets and Apostles and the priesthood authority promised. My friend, I do not know your source for that claim, but let me share some of the scriptures in the New Testament that clearly emphasize the needs for prophets in the Church of Jesus Christ, even after our Savior ascended into heaven: Ephesians 2:19-20 “19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;” Acts 13:1-2: “1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.” And again in 1 Corinthians 12:27-31: “27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.” And again in 1 Corinthians 14:29-33: “29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. 30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. 31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”

Many of the modern prophets have provided "NEW revelation" as you noted and their words are canon in the new scriptures which we have received. They have done miracles and God has affirmed their message to millions. We have additional scripture including the Doctrine & Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, and additional scripture given at least twice at year by prophets and apostles in our day. If nothing could be added to scripture after Jesus what do you propose we do with the rest of the New Testament? Do you not accept the epistles of Paul as containing scripture? What about the book of Acts or the Apostle John's Revelation? God does not change and he does not lie. Amos 3:7 from the King James Version of the Bible teaches us: "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." God's plan and purpose have not changed, He still calls prophets and 12 apostles in our day. His church is restored to the Earth as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

lol. if you remember the government of the original Christian churches day didn’t treat them too well either. Between blaming them for fires and floods and accusing them of idolatry they were persecuted by the powers that be in many terrible ways. No surprise then Christ restored church on the Earth today is likewise targeted by a corrupt government and wicked people. We know it’ll get worse before Christ comes and we’re prepared for it.
