What is your favourite vocal line by Lemmy in Motorhead?
@paulwalsh2344

GOOD QUESTION !... Apart from just about any line in "Ace Of Spades"... I really love "Base abusers, I see thy greed. I am more fit for glory than any ten of thee" from "Bad Religion and "All the justice in the world is not enough to buy my faith & trust. Don't make that face I won't be pleased . Don't make a sideshow of yourself" from "I Don't Believe A Word" ...

My favorite Lemmy line is actually from an interview and not a song. One where he is talking about fans coming up to him. "There's no harm in good manners, they don't cost anything"

Actually, the entire text from 1916. It's a shame, the song would have belonged on the soundtrack of _All Quiet on the Western Front_ It would have been the perfect end credits. This book was the first thing that popped into my head when I first heard the song.

You should do the same thing with Brian Johnson, comparing his excellent "singing" voice in his band, "Geordie" from 1972 to 1978 to the screaming he would incorporate when he joined AC/DC in 1980. The difference in style is insane. You'd never believe that it was the same singer. Unfortunately, after Flick of the Switch, he never sounded the same again due to irreparably shredding his vocal cords.

Oh God yes! His cover of House of the rising sun with Geordie sounds nothing like AC/DC Brian Johnson. He had a very nice singing voice in Geordie.

Smoking and drinking whiskey will change your voice to a more raspy sound as I and several singers can attest to.

Yeah but Lemmy also had the trick of aiming his mic down and then threw his head back to allow the awesomeness that is Lemmy to erupt straight from deep down in his diaphragm.

Age,whiskey and decade upon decade on the road are what brought about the changes in his voice. He is one of the VERY few who earned every bit of what status he had while alive. It seems everyone is a fan " from way back " now. Lemmy would've seen thru all of you.

I'd love to experience the alternate reality where Lemmy doesn't rough up his voice. I think there are some songs he wrote that his old voice could ve worked well in. Even if not, it certainly would've given Lemmy a greater level of versatility (not that what he's done isn't good, I love Motorhead)

Chris Holmes has a vocal style similar to Lemmy. It is a shame Chris wasted so much time with WASP, and allowed Blackie to hold him back, for if Chris had been given the chance to shine the world would have had 2 Motorhead bands tearing down the stage, and rocking the world. \m/ LEMMY \m/

love the guy, but judging by Chris' solo albums we should all be thankful someone who could write decent songs was holding him back.
@XxTheAwokenOnexX
@XxTheAwokenOnexX Жыл бұрын
@@arto2533 What decent songs are you referring to? WASP were at their best when Chris was on board, and Blackie has never produced an album that comes close to being, as good, as the metal WASP once were. Look, Chris vocals are similar to Lemmy, and if Blackie had not been so wrapped up in himself, we would have seen Chris with a side project that would have resulted in a second Motorhead band for metalheads to head bang to.
@arto2533
@arto2533 Жыл бұрын
@@XxTheAwokenOnexX yes, most decent WASP songs are on the first five studio albums and Chris PLAYED on the first four. Doesn't change the fact that Blackie wrote almost all of it, while Chris couldn't write a good song to save his life. No one's been holding him back from becoming "another Motörhead" since 1990 when he first quit WASP.
@arto2533

@@XxTheAwokenOnexX and I certainly appreciate this whole internet shtick of rooting for the underappreciated sidekick who got royally screwed over by an evil band leader, and ACTUALLY made the band great once, yet had zero success on their own after leaving or getting kicked out. It comes up in literally every post about WASP/Chris, Whitesnake/John Sykes, Ozzy/Jake E. Lee and a gazillion others I can't think of right now. Hell, I even read a post last week claiming that Dave Ellefson was a HUGE factor in Megadeth's success. Oh well.
