Hearing God’s Voice and Brain Science - Virkler & Lehman

I have recently had the joy of building a friendship with Dr. Karl Lehman who is a board certified psychiatrist and the author of Outsmarting Yourself and The Immanuel Approach (750 pages long). Dr. Karl has especially worked to integrate faith-based emotional healing with insights provided by psychological and neurological research.
Dr. Karl has come to the point of making the voice of God central in his practice, and he and I were amazed at how many similarities we have between us, even though we had never heard of each other until just a couple of months ago.
So I asked Dr. Karl if we could do a podcast where I shared my basic four keys to hearing God’s voice, and then had him share his understanding of brain science as it relates to the use of these four keys. This 45-minute video podcast covers Christian spirituality from theological and scientific perspectives, focusing on what the Bible says about hearing God’s voice, and what insights brain science has to help us understand and deepen our experiences of hearing God’s voice and in leading others into their own conversations with God.

My journal entry: Jesus- You must live by faith and not by self, if you live by the strength of your flesh that is how you lose but if you live by the Spirit and you do that by fixing your eyes upon me you win everytime. How do you want me to fix my eyes upon you? It is very simple; just look at me and talk to me. In fact, you are actually created to live out of flow; what you look at with the eyes of your heart will determine the direction of your own life.

I agree w/ the idea of community & have wanted that for years, however, it never works out in the area I live, so I use my computer & feel connected to the ones Holy Spirit leads me to...there's some interaction w/ the chat, prayer requests, etc. so I hope that counts for community when you have nothing else.

Does the asking the Lord what you need to work through for healing and you journal it and share your journaling and talking it out loud, is that where the healing takes place for that trauma, for example?

Pastor Mark.I was listen to another pastor that said GOD does not talk in the still small voice.GOD Talks to me and other but I am distrub that he would say that ...COULD U TELL ME IF HE DOES SPEAK .COULD U EXPLAIN THIS PASTOR OPTION.

We must base everything on Scripture. Scripture says He speaks in a still small voice. Scripture also says His sheep hears His voice. You are His sheep and so you hear His voice

The things you are describing about hearing God's voice are unscientific and they do not prove that you heard the voice of God. Your own thoughts are not the voice of God. Dreams are not the voice of God. A few flaws include pre conditioning and putting attributes to the message. Precondition such as being quiet, avoiding distractions, prayer before. Real beings do not require this. If if have pre conceived idea of the message (calming, matching scripture), this is also flawed. You are filling in the "answer" before it can be received. Also, external events or co-incidences are not evidence of the voice of God. Patterns, correlations, and in a message format (which can include signs) are required. Testing is not "does it line up with scripture" or "is there peace in my heart". These are attributes, not evidence of an agent. Do you see or hear an external being. Do you see something in nature that is a message and not something that ordinarily happens? If you have to decide if a voice is from God, it is not from God. If you have no evidence of _who_ is sending you the message, then it is not from God.
