This is clips put together to give an idea of what it is like to have a hearing loss and what it is like to hear through a device. Keep in mind that how much a person will benefit from the device might not match these clips as there is SO many different factors that determine whether a person can hear and understand what is being said

I am severely hard of hearing, but I wear hearing aids (HAs) in public. The HA part was surprisingly accurate. It's so damn hard sometimes to hear and understand what someone's saying in a place with a lot of background noise. Thankfully, the technology has improved a lot over the years. With each new pair I get, the sound quality is a little better.

To be clear, also with hearing loss, you have a soft, high-pitched ringing sound in your ear 24/7 as well. I have mild and moderate loss, and it is mainly difficult to hear conversations in like a library setting, where everything has to be quiet, plus conversations with other background noise. The first part I mentioned nearly got me in trouble in court when the judge asked me a question and I had no idea she was talking to me!

I have somewhat moderate hearing loss in my right ear, following some stupid antics I engaged with as a teenager involving firecrackers, around two decades ago. I had that 'ringing sound' (called tinnitus) for a bit over a year but I haven't had it ever return since then, so it doesn't seem like it affects all people permanently?

Well I have cochlear implant. It’s annoying at first. But I got to used to it. It’s turned out fine! I ignore the noises. Trust me you will get used to it. If it’s still bothering you, it’s takes times. Could be long time to used. If it’s been a year or two, go to audio doc or take it off. It’s up to you.

Plus I hearing the weird noises in the silence. It’s sound like a little noise inside heater or something. And guess what, it’s didn’t bother me.
