As far I know, all the heart sounds can be auscaltate with stethoscope but the 1st & 2nd with the diaphragm of the stethoscope & 3rd & 4th with the bell of a stethoscope. 1st HS produced due to the vibration created by the taut papilary muscles & Chordae tendineae while preventing regurgitation of Mitral & Tricuspid valves. 3rd HS is physiological for younger adults due to pliability of ventricle, however the same is pathological for elderly people. The 4th HS is always pathological as it happens only when atria needs to forcefully contract against hypertrophied ventricle. Are these wrong??
