If you check on my video, I mostly use a Tulip Crochet Hook. I have many kind of crochet hooks, but this is the hook that I use the most. If you are a beginner and you only want to buy 1 crochet hook, I recommend you to buy Tulip Etimo Rose Crochet Hook, 5/3mm as a start. From my experience, this hook size suit with yarn weight 1 to 3. ABBREVIATIONS
(US Crochet Terms)
MR: Magic Ring
st(s): stitch(es)
sl st: slip stitch
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
inc: increase (make 2 sc in the same space)
dec: decrease (sc2tog) - use Invisible Decrease for better result. Using invisible decrease (dec) instead of sc2tog is very recommended when making amigurumi; you can't even tell that the stitches are decreasing.
To do Invisible Decrease, insert hook through front loop of the first stitch, then through the front loop of the next stitch (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and draw through the first two loops on the hook (2 loops on hook now). Yarn over and draw through both loops on the hook. Invisible decrease completed.

Thank you so much! I had tried another tutorial for a heart and it was a disaster! Very unclear verbal directions, not very clear crochet demonstrated and a lack of textual stitch and row counts. An added touch for anyone who cares to try it, when you've gone around and joined them with the sc edging, don't cut the yarn, flip the piece over and work slip stitches along the back of the edging stitches. Tidies the back up and gives a nice firm edge.

DK weight yarn and 3mm crochet hook. If you use worsted-weight yarn, I think 3.5 or 4 mm crochet hook is good.
