It's actually really surprising to me that she isn't bigger than she is. Not that 2.5 and 3.5 million views on 2018 songs are anything to turn your nose up at, but shocked she doesn't have more. Most people would instantly recognize the "I don't want it at all" chorus, but probably wouldn't link it back to Kim Petras. Checks off all the boxes for a pop star, including a legitimately great voice (check out any live performance). Doesn't let being transgender define her or her image, but also seems to embrace it as well, which you would think would get her more visibility. Amazing story, and I expect her to really take off further into the mainstream very soon.

I LOVE KIM PETRAS! She has one of the ( if not the) most beautiful voices and from interviews I also know she is a genuinely talented, emotional, and thoughtful singer who has fought her way into my heart. I challenge everyone reading this to look deeper into her history. It is a wonderful story.

There was this guy called Max, he loved this song, it was not his type of music but he loved it because we used to ride in my car and I wouldn't stop listening to it at that time. No one could know he liked this song and that we were close but even without speaking English I heard him singing along to it while he was on my right side seat while we drove happy through our shitty city. He even had a WhatsApp audio message saved in his phone of me singing along to the song that I learned he would constantly play while we were not together. I gave my heart to break to this guy, he never broke it and if we had had more time and maturity to just leave the place where we were, I'm sure he would do and be the exact opposite of what this song says, 'cause I guess that's the meaning of these lyrics to me, find someone who would do exactly the opposite. Unfortunately he got killed with only 27 years old and every time I listen to this song (and any other times too) I still feel kinda left in that time. Weird that I'll NEVER be able to speak to you again Max but I will always be your friend, the brother you never had and your future lover if we meet again in a better place one day. I never thought that there would be another place to be after we leave this earth but you made me want to believe that there is and we can meet again and listen to this song together. Miss you!

I remember when Lady Gaga first got popular, everyone was spreading that transphobic rumor that she was a hermophrodite or whatever and how it was like a "gotcha!!" moment to men who found her attractive. I'm hoping society has progressed enough since then, more trans women have an audience today than they ever have before (Laura from Against Me!, SOPHIE, ANOHNI (one of the few most notable openly trans musicians from before the 2010s). If anyone can break out and be a mainstream success, it could be Kim Petras.
