Wow! And double wow!! Y’all just keep upping the bar. That was a lot of variety and top quality points in one day. That one that looked like a Turkey tail I’ve seen several of those that have have a 5 sided stem . I know the books call that a pontchartrain but I think it may be a sub group . Like maybe they had to modify the Turkey tail to accommodate out local gravel. Just a guess. And then there’s Randy’s precious jewelry stone. That color is unreal , you just don’t know what’s in the bottom of those creeks. Huge congrats on a spectacular day!!! And Happy New Year!!
@HeartbreakerRelics3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ron! I agree with you on the Turkey tale looking Pontchartrain. We have seen several like this. This stretch of creek has been really good to us this past summer. We can't wait to get back in there this spring. Good luck to yall and happy new year.
@ronlawrence3423 жыл бұрын
@@HeartbreakerRelics You know Spike one of the least studied areas in the east is extreme south Ms and Louisiana . The San Patrice ( Leaf River) wasn’t even named until the 1970’s. That particular Turkey tail looking “ pontchartrain “ is not an anomaly , I’ve seen to many intentionally made that way. The culture in this area at that time had a certain shape they were going for. The point also seems to be current with the Turkey tails of North Ms and Alabama which is what makes me think they’re related. Y’all are on a hole full of treasures . Can’t wait for you to get back!! Thanks again and Happy New Year!

Years ago I had an old friend in Wyoming who hunted artifacts until he was an old man . His name was Ted dew . Ted told me he thought the arrowheads called bird points were , in fact points made for their children to learn with and to enjoy , like with us when we buy our sons a bb gun . Ted also cut and polished rocks . On his shop door he had this sign , rocks by God , polished by Ted.......... Best wishes and God bless..........dee
@HeartbreakerRelics3 жыл бұрын
Bird points are actually true arrow points. The larger points are dart/atlatl spear points and knives.

@@HeartbreakerRelics I'm only 70 yr old , my friend Ted was in his eighties when I was about 20 or so It appears you need to teach me now about such things as bird points While you are at it please teach me of the uses for what you call blunts and the piece you found that appears to be a so called scraper . I found my first stone knife at about the age of 7 , my last spearhead about 40 years ago before my family and I moved to Alaska We are now back in Wyoming but now it is illigal to hunt artifacts , as I understand it so o guess it's time for me to learn from you younger experts and now try to forget the colorful past that I once so enjoyed . No need now to tell why Ted called blunts , stunners or explained the many uses of scrapers .again , God bless you and best wishes..........dee

@@deelunbeck5647 thanks for your feedback. We'll try to do a better job explaining some of these tools in the future. In fact we have discussed doing a series explaining what we think we know lol.
