Back in '86 when I was stationed in Korea 🇰🇷 my Platoon adopted an orphanage. It was for mixed race kids of American Soldiers. We repaired their home. Held BBQ's for the kids once a month. And bought Christmas and birthday presents for all the kids.

Big hugs to you guys for sharing your love, time and platform to shine a light on this orphanage and for reminding us how that there are so many babies and children being abandoned all the time, all over the world. Like, we know it already exists, but we get caught up in our lives of incredible privilege and easily forget. Muchas gracias. xoxo

I cried through this. So heart touching. So glad they have been able to shift the corruption and have Guatemalans adopt. So wonderful it is free. I have worked as an Art Therapist with children who have acted out their being bought and seeing the effect of that awareness at that young age was very sad to witness. Beautiful you can offer presence, love, and a happy caring face. Beautiful that the woman responded from her heart to create a loving refuge. Big hugs to all!

ME - www.npr.org/sections/latin-america/ This is an article from 2017 NPR wrote. Essentially, there was mass corruption in the process and it had become a profit center for those running it. The article indicates that up to 5000 infants a year were being adopted, but it was tragically out of hand. A friend of mine did adopt a child from Guatemala, and it was the greatest thing for them as they could not have children on their own.

OK I'm in tears now! Thank you for sharing this and bringing this to people's attention. At the age of 13 I was in group homes and foster homes and this is very close to my heart seeing these babies. I even remember when I was 13 yrs old I cried over the babies in the home that had no families. They were in a separate area from the older kids, but seeing them always hurt my heart. Children like this are starved for love... even if the volunteers give them attention, it's not the same as having parents and a family. That one on one connection you have with your parents leaves a HUGE hole when you don't have it. It's not that the volunteers are not able to give them enough love or attention, it's because children are meant to be raised in a family where they are the center of attention. So it's very hard on them to grow up without that family unit. That's why they all wanted your attention and I thank you so much for doing this with them. It helps them and they learn from these experiences. The woman who is running this is amazing! What an incredible and loving woman! I am so glad you guys did this. I hope you go again to spend some time with them. It truly does help those babies to have more experiences with love and attention. God bless you guys!
