For those who don’t speak Spanish like me here’s the story of this dance: it’s a true story about Syrian refugees trying to escape to Greece. The little boy in the red shirt is representing a little boy named Aylan Kurdi, you can look him up. But he was a young boy who was found washed up on the beach. When he was found he was no longer alive and was wearing that red shirt. He was a part of the refugees trying to escape but he ended up drowning and washing ashore. He became a symbol for the terrible conditions these refugees go through in order to find a better and safer life.

It was talked about everywhere, that picture of the boy in the red shirt, Ailan Kurt, was everywhere for weeks and months. I guess because we are used to these stories when you live near the Mediterranean, you know immediately what is going on the second you see those people come in stage. The dance was extremely powerful.

What you were watching is about people who try to escape their home country because of either poverty or political issues the little boy with the toy was one of the dead. If you look at the scene again you’ll see how many people in got on the board and at the end of the scene is very few of them left so that’s mean the rest of them were dead on the ocean
