+AnEternalEnigma I honestly don't think WCW knew what they had with Vampiro. An unorthodox offensive style, a unique look and charisma by the truckload should've made him a legit main eventer. Agreed though, Russo completely killed the character by lazily fueding him with Sting and putting him in every lame ass gimmick match he could think of (The Human Torch match being the absolute nadir of that run)..Made absolutely no sense.

+Peanut Butter Knife Fight ----- The feud could have worked IF Sting had put his heart into it. WCW was actually decent to watch then & had interesting storylines with SID, DDP, STING, LEX, HULK & Nash fighting off the New Blood. I'd really like to see some sort if program on the WWE network with all those involved explaining what COULD HAVE been. Growing up, I was a total mark for WWE, but I played any wrestling game I could get my hands on. Backstage Assault was the first time I'd ever heard of Vampiro. I would play as him or against him all the time just so I could hear this awesome music lol.

it's because the reason the mcmahons bought out wcw was basically to eliminate competition and shut them down. some superstars were signed to wwf/wwe but they didn't sign him due to they had no idea what to do with his character, "vampiro".

C S I’ve always thought it was stupid buying wcw just to shut it down. I can understand buying the competition but shutting it down immediately turned many fans away. The only time I watched wwe after that was for sting and Goldberg. Hell they didn’t know what to do with Sting. They sorta had the right thing going with Sting taking on the “corruption” but they proved sting was right about them in wrestle mania. All he wanted was a match with the undertaker.

To be fair Vampiro was hurt just after his last match with Sting and WCW was bought out. The way he tells it came out of surgery and got a telegram from Vinny Mac saying "You're Fired"

Honestly, the Sting feud ruined Vampiro completely. The guy became Sting's personal jobber for, what was it, 2-3 months? He got one victory in that entire feud and that was in that stupid Human Torch match when he lit a damned stunt double on fire. The rest of the feud was just Vampiro coming out and attacking Sting, Sting coming out and attacking Vampiro, Vampiro using the blood gimmick because get it, he's "Vampiro". There was only so much WCW could have done to save the guy after that feud, and that would have been to have Vampiro go clean over Hogan, Nash, Steiner and Goldberg for the next 6 months. It's a real shame honestly, Vampiro could've really been something if WCW wasn't the backstage political shithole that it was then, and if the writing was halfway decent.

Obi-Juan the Sting feud had nothing to do with him getting ruined lol. It put him on the US wrestling map, who cares if he didn't win the feud christ did Ric Flair ever win a feud lol. Bad booking and horrible writers and the fact WCW was circling the drain is what ruined not his feud with Sting. If Sting and Vampiro do that in WWF he would have been a big star.
