Fantastic as always! I have been battling cancer for over a year now. After my major op in December my friend and our bassist gifted me with a Fender mustang micro that I can use with headphones and Bluetooth to KZbin so I can play in bed. Sitting in bed and jamming along really ups my spirits after a shitty day of chemo. My lead playing has greatly improved and I now know the difference between an Aolian and Ionian scale! Thanks again! Edit:As of December 2022 I am in remission and therefore cancer free. Thank you to all for your prayers and kind words.

something that's very evident from all of your solos is how you target chord tones of each chord underneath the solo. Is this something that just comes naturally by ear or do you map out a solo first by working out which notes fit best against each chord?
@untamedsoul0
@untamedsoul0 Жыл бұрын
It takes a lot of practice to be able to do this, but fretboard knowledge is highly essential and then knowing what notes are in a chord. This allows you to easier utilize target notes while soloing over a track. It eventually comes naturally once you've been playing for awhile.

I’ve been watching your channel for a long time. And gratefully I’ve utilized the hell out of it for my own playing. But let me just say that watching you grow overtime as an artist, not just some KZbin cat making backing tracks, that your lead playing has really grown. When u first started your solos weren’t bad at all. But the last 2 years or so they really got good. And went from mediocre/good To really good. I can tell you know your way around the fret board and I assume your prolly studied theory early on. Nothing wrong with that at all. But your playing really took on a soul of its own and u can hear it in the music. And I know it must be rewarding to know that, if u didn’t already There’s sooo many egos in this small community we are in of guitar nerds Lol Everyone is trying to one up the other person. I’ve been playing for 25 years but prolly 14 years seriously with some spots where I was just going thru the motions and not really trying to get any better. I’ve listened to tons and tons of people. I am 38 so I was old enough to remember some of those great guitar players from the 80s and 90s. I am trying to find an honest way of complimenting u instead of just saying “good job” lol But like more in depth and honest. I know for myself those compliments mean most to me personally. There’s solos u play now and I just think damn, that was really good. And it inspires me to push harder and learn more and get better. Your very clean with your approach. For me it’s tuff because when I hear a great backing track like this one It’s like I wanna pull out every great lick on this one track Lol And I end up over playing a lot of times. And I think that’s one thing I’ve learnt from watching your playing is sometimes less is more. U play a good melody, u throw in some nice licks but focus on the chord changes and singing the song thru your solo. Anyways, this is my long ass message to u just saying thanks for all these free tracks that I KNOW has made me a better guitarist and I am sure has helped millions others ! Oh and lastly, your tone is fkn ridiculous. I am jealous 1000 percent at your tones And how clean these recordings are. I am always thinking, “fuck how is he getting such a great tone” I wouldn’t mind to know your set up in terms of your software u use to record and also your interface u use. And most importantly. How are u running your guitar into logic ? Or GarageBand or whatever u use ? The reason I am asking is because I have a jvm 210h Marshall And I tried running from the head directly to my inner face into garage band and it sounds like utter shit ! And I am like wtf. 3000 dollar amp and I can’t get it to sound FULL and clear and good. Anyways sorry for this long ass message, any tips would help

I love this jam right till the end when you light up that sweet tele. I struggle trying to keep up until that point, then I just throw my pick in the air....... No way can I begin to follow that, at my old age my hands won't go that fast. Maybe my brain doesn't either..... Still fun to try even though I can't see it as fast as you can play it. They called Eric Clapton 'slowhand' even though he was quite fast in my view. I guess I could be 'deadhand'. Any day at my age. PS: Checked out your patreon page. I might be willing to pay for a tab now and then but I am retired without a spare $120 a year to become a patreon for the occasional tab. Most who request patreon support offer more options or levels. I might pay a buck for a PDF of a tab for one I want. Just my free advice, worth it's price to you. Merry Christmas!
