Tell it like it is, Michael! This video has been out there for a while, but it is just as pertinent today as when this video was made. I have hunted all my life and will do so until I no longer can. But he is right; follow the rules, do the right thing, enjoy our great outdoors and have as much fun as you can and every trip will be a success. The kill is great, no doubt. But when you get that chance to sit in a deer stand or a ground blind and it first starts getting light and you can watch the world come alive and all those colors paint the sky - - - - it just makes you feel alive! Enjoy it while you can.

Thank you !! Killing a deer use to be measured by the hunt itself now it's measured in its score.I'm so fed up with this trophy crap.if i take the notion to shoot a small buck with my now or gun that's my dang business. Now days ol he would've been a good one in a few years....he's good one now to me.

You are exactly right sir! Thank you for this. One of the best hunters I ever met was a man out in Cordesville, SC hunting public land turkeys this spring. I didn't know the area and he showed me the way in. We walked about a half mile together and he showed me his call that was made from a jagged piece of floor tile and an old wood "striker" (craziest thing I've ever seen). I will always be grateful to that man for showing me some kindness and restoring my faith in the hunting community when we see all these people who want to not help others and lead them the wrong way for their own benefit.

You speak about getting the opportunity to shake the hands of the people who support you. It reminds me of the time when i first met you. I grew up watching you on the Realtree vhs tapes and i didnt turkey hunt but you were in north alabama at a turkey calling competition and i wanted to go just to see you on the stage and you took the time to sit down and talk to an 9 year old kid and sign a realtree license plate for me and too this day i still have that plate. You are one of the few genuine hunters left that we have in the industry.

Michael Waddell, please thank you mother and father for me. they raised a authentic , real American. Your rant is spot on brother. I have been saying this for years. That coin hits both sides of the fence. We have idiots running down other hunters because they follow the game laws, and shoot that small but legal buck. Stop the hate, celebrate the hunt, even if you would not shoot that young buck, good for you. Semper Fi , God bless. Michael Waddell is good people.

You are an ex Pa game commission? The board directors in PA are some of the most corrupt incompetent trash out of any state. For about 15 years they let my unit be an unlimited tag area and it got hit hard, not counting that disease that happened twice. Telling you they are getting money from car insurance companies to reduce the population. Unlimited doe tags, introduced coyotes in this area which the population exploded...nobody traps anymore because fur isn’t worth the bait and gas. Our Turkey population has decreased 75% in the past 7 years...what do the game commission do? Allow hunters to purchase a 2nd tag. Mark my words there won’t be any Turkey hunting in Pa (Atleast in my unit) within 15 years. Areas I use to see hundreds of Turkey 10 years ago I now only see half a dozen at most. I can’t stand game commission, “let’s fine some little kid because he doesn’t have 250 square inches of orange on”. They are like state cops....when they stop they look for every little violation, like fuzzy dice on your mirror.

I met Michael Waddell many years ago at deerassic classic in Cambridge oh , won't say how many years so not to give away how old we really are Michael lol, and by far he was the most humble and down to earth hunting celebrity I met that day. I have no interest in going to those events anymore due to what the hunting industry pushing that everyone should be hunting for only giant bucks, not to mention the unreal price of the products being pushed. I am glad to see one of rhe guys I look up to in this industry finally stand up and say what needed to be said. Thank u.

I have to admit, I stopped watching you years ago, and it was for a certain reason that I will not add on this comment. After watching this video though, you have reclaimed this viewer. I used to be one of those hunters in Talbot County, GA on a Mead lease praying to see a squirrel and not worrying about wind direction and such. This video hits the nail on the head in so many ways. Thank you for doing all that you do to preserve this right that we love. Hopefully, one day I will get to meet you and shake your hand.

Well said Mr. Waddell! How well said? So well said you changed my wife's mind...and that takes some doing. I bought the Bone Collector sticker at a gun show today and intended to put it on my truck rear window. My wife said no. She liked the deer head but did not like the "spooky skull eyes". She heard this video and was impressed with your message and heart. She did not know the sticker represented your show but found out with this video (the pillows in the background). She changed her mind. Keep up the good work in your mission of hunting evangelism.

Outstanding my brother!!!! Truth told for sure! Too many times the allure of the “professional “hunter and all the fancy gadgets and gizmos that most of us can’t afford keep many from attempting to try. I am 42 and have limited funds for what I would like to have. With what I do have which I have always done is buy a bow that was last years new which is new to me and works fine. Buy clearance scent blocker or lock most is too big. I am still successful, but at the same time I have scored more meat for the family in my work boots and pants with a flannel on top when I stop in the woods for a couple hours after work and fill the fridge with countless does. I am just happy and blessed to do that and brain dump and enjoy Gods creation and thank Him for being able to do so! Thank you for doing what you do and telling your truth telling rants! Keep up the great work!

I just saw this video. I agree with everything that you said. I have been an NRA member for many years. I have watched the outdoor channel and the sportsman channel. I like the down-to-earth country talking good ole boys the best. That is just my opinion. I have not hunted nor fished in many years. I started buying guns because I felt like one day I would no longer be allowed to. I am not interested in killing the biggest of anything. I would be glad to if the situation came available, but I would love to be able to hunt to eat the food that the good Lord put on this earth for us to eat. I love to fish for the food to put on my table for my family. I have watched you guys for 16 years and I love watching you. I enjoy watching several different families on this channel. Keep doing what you guys do and keep being REAL. We are intelligent viewers and we can spot folks who are in it for the wrong reason. I enjoy your shows, please do not ever change.

Michael is so passionate and genuine! I felt everything he said and he’s Been my hero since I was a kid. I always wanted to meet him in person but maybe one day it’ll happen. I’d go to the Arkansas sports show every year just hoping he’d show up lol. He messaged me years ago on social media and wished me happy hunting and i was ecstatic. I’ve always been extremely passionate about the outdoors, growing up if I wasn’t at school I was hunting or fishing. Now that I’m 31 I still have sleepless nights when deer season gets close. I’ve been very blessed this season! I killed my hit list buck “Claw” opening day sept 24th the day after my birthday, sitting in the tree all day with highs in the mid 90s. I got him Right before dark. Then November 2nd I killed another mature buck I’ve never had on camera. The youth hunt was a bust but opening week of regular gun season my 7 year old daughter got her first deer ever! Plus I got a doe on Christmas eve and another on New Year’s Eve And we only had 5 acres to hunt that’s pretty much in an urban area right beside the city limit line. But it’s a funnel to the big woods. After I got the bucks and my daughter got hers a week later the owner decided he was going to build on the land so we couldn’t hunt it anymore and by some miracle I got a call and was given permission to hunt some 10 acres of urban land behind a dispensary which I got the 2 does on. I’ve had some really nice bucks come by and on camera so I’m super excited about next season. also had a successful heart procedure done the beginning of this month that I’ve put off for years so I have had the best season Of my life just hunting every chance i can get after work and on the weekends but my kid getting her deer was one of the best parts. I’ve got a few doe tags left but im still recovering so we will see if I can get back out there! God bless and take care!

Dang Michael good speech. That is the best rant I've heard in a while. You have come a long way from when we were neighbors in Waverly Hall. Keep up the great work.

I knew when I met you in Florida at a Gander Mountain Grand opening years ago, that you my friend were genuine and that had true conviction for what you talked about. Michael, that speech you talked about, it hit the nail on the head man! You just keep doing things the way you always have brother and ill do my best to make sure on my end, that I promote "Our Right" to the best of my ability! David Hunn

I use to love to watching hunting shows when I was a kid. I'm 46 now, and its lost its original luster for me. Now it's not about the hunt, or the blessings of being able to be out in the peaceful solitude of God's creation, its about what can I sell you. I dont have a land lease, I dont have top of the line anything, but I put multiple deer on the ground every year. Why, because my dad and his brothers taught me how to HUNT as a kid. Mike I dont know if you will ever see this, but I have the upmost respect for you and your show. I watch your show, because you keep it real and you truly love and respect the blessings of being able to hunt.

I must admit...I am blessed to have a very supportive wife when it comes to my outdoor activities. No matter the weapon of choice...hunters should support hunters.

I fully agree. Michael you've always been a down to earth just like us type hunter. I commend you. Thank you for being that way. The whole bucks gotta be 4 years old and a 150 class to be a good deer is not real life hunting for the majority of us. I hunt weekends and on 20 acres. I dont have that luxury. I like to see the real life hunting. If it makes you happy and it's legal, then that's what we should be promoting. We can't all "trophy" hunt. So amen brother. Keep on keeping on. From north ga!

I missed this rant back in 2018 when this was a hot topic. All i got to say after watching this now is HELL YES MICHAEL!! Put a mic in his hand so he can drop it,, say BAAM, and walk off. Nothing else to add to that. WAY TO GO. A lot of what he said then is true to this day. Guys like Michael, and Randy Newberg are the guys I hope to hunt with someday if I could. Ironically...here were are in 2022, and youtube and facebook are now censoring some of what we want to watch here. Demonitizing creators content when they show how to gut a deer, process a deer, or maybe doing a DIY euro mount. Its crazy.
