I just picked this up and I feel like I'm in the room with musicians: I found a group online from meetup for sharing spiritual experiences and we'd been meeting up for a few months. Today was special though. We met at midday at a cute french cafe. We talked about esoteric philosophy. Some of us overshared but we are starting to feel comfortable with each other, even if we don't know most of each others motives. There's a small but welcomed tension of chaos between us, like some of us could be lifelong partners along with a bittersweet betrayal. After our conversation it was a beautiful warm autumn afternoon. we walked through an urban park and the yellow leaves from the maple and ash trees filled the green grass lined with concrete and brick paths. We head back to Ingrid and Jeans place. They live in one of these old houses that was built in the 50s, its considered a heritage building so the outside of the house is untouched and has a haunting look to it as the sun sets on its white mortar outer walls. Jean leads us into his common room with a wide open space. A round rug fills the majority of the room atop its wooden floor boards. Placed around the room are instruments and Jean hands them out to each of us. We form a circle with some of us lucky to be sitting on pillows. We begin to strum and pluck, I would glance over at Tania as she played the guitar, occasionally locking eyes. There's something about the way her face lights up with each passing phrase and the sound of our group inspiring her on. Thanks for the inspiration, You can tell its put together with care and love, along with the vision of exactly what it wants to achieve. All the best Hunter ❤

Thank you so much for putting the work into this! I'm buying this tonight when I get home from work. Also, thank you so much for your "what makes this special to me" section. That really struck home with me. I've always been the sort who has flirted with music making from time to time, even played trombone in a roots-rock band (Soda and his Million Piece Band) in the mid 2000's for a bit, but rarely did much with it for a few reasons... didn't have the cash to buy all the instruments I'd like to use in my work, didn't have time to decently learn all those instruments, and just didn't have the head for the logistics of getting musician friends together to play (my schedule and their schedules just didn't mesh combined with everyone dispersing to different parts of the country over the years.) I started getting back into music a few years ago and then really bit into it when COVID hit. I discovered music libraries like EastWest and Spitfire. FINALLY, I could noodle around in my 2nd bedroom "studio" making tracks that sounded the way they did in my head. One thing that was missing though was the sort of library like you described in your "what makes this special" section. I can't wait to get home and work with your library. I am so very happy I accidentally came across it yesterday! Take care!!

So beautiful, so greatly recorded, every note feels like a live performance. Usually instruments like these sound like a soundfont with a couple dynamics and round robins, but with no life, most of times they are also harsh and the recordings are off too most of the time sounding like you are not supposed to blend the instrument with anything else. This library is completely different and it truly captured the performance part for every instrument, and it's so nicely recorded, sounds super pleasant and inspiring out of the box. You did an amazing job with it and I cannot wait for more of your virtual instruments! I think you really nailed the concept of the library too, until recently most samples focused too much on a single type of music (cinematic, tv. etc.) while being almost isolated from other genres such as indie folk, among many others, but there's a whole another world of different kinds of music from which we can borrow ideas, instruments, recording techniques

@hunterrogersonmusic2 жыл бұрын
Due to the instrument's mic bleed functionality, the routing under the hood is a bit involved and not compatible with splitting each instrument to its own stereo output within a single patch. But this is where the Solo patches come in! You can load each instrument individually in one instance of Kontakt and route the midi inputs and stereo outs independently for each of those patches.

This is actually the first I'm hearing of this particular bug! I'm sorry it's befallen you! The first thing that came to mind was that drives formatted as "Mac OS (Journaled)" and "APFS" tend to work the best for libraries. I understand that reformatting could be a big hassle considering you already have other libraries installed that work just fine. Just for the sake of troubleshooting, you could see if purging all samples alleviates this either completely, temporarily, or not at all. I'll snoop around and consult some folks. If I come up with anything definitive you'll be the first to know! (currently the reformat is the only strong contender in my mind, which is a shame)

I'm very close to buying it. Watched few vids. Sounds unique and beautiful. Just one small query, I saw a comment that each instrument is only a bit more than one octave. What's your comment on this?
@hunterrogersonmusic Жыл бұрын
My comment would be that if you're on the hunt for a well rounded solo guitar library (or mandolin, or banjo etc), then this library won't be satisfactory. I built it very specifically to be used as an ensemble with specific instruments inhabiting particular ranges (choosing ranges for each instrument where they were their most woody and mellow). I think the sound and feel of the thing is currently peerless as a result. I honestly still find myself using the instruments for solo parts, but I know for certain that they can't cover all bases when it comes to range. Plus, there are a lot of different playing techniques I would want to add if I was trying to make a comprehensive library for any one of these instruments. That will be a project unto itself hopefully in the near future! Hopefully that helps to clarify whether or not it's a fit for you!
@dandna1855 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to write this comment. I believe it's going to be a good addition to my library. I produce a wide range of music styles and could see it enriching the mixes. Just got it and need to know where the user manual is located, can’t find on Spitfire. Also, is there a way to change the tempo besides the 2 presets you have, and can rhythm variations like 3/4 time, 6/8? Thanks for your hard work!
@hunterrogersonmusic2 жыл бұрын
Currently, there isn't a written manual and this walkthrough (and my MIDI deep dive walkthrough) are intended to cover that base, so to speak. As for tempo, once you use it in a DAW, you'll notice that the grooves adapt to the host tempo of the DAW dynamically. 110/90bpm articulations indicate what BPM i used to record the source material. This is provided to give you the ability to avoid time-stretching artifacts (for example, if you have a song at 80bpm, using the 110bpm recordings would require a 30bpm adjustment where the 90bpm recordings would only need to be adjusted by 10bpm allowing them to sound much more natural). Regarding 3/4 and 6/8, the eighth and quarter note grooves will work well, but the others were recorded in 4/4.

With each instrument has a range of just an octave or so, would it be too limited when composing and arranging?
@hunterrogersonmusic Жыл бұрын
The goal of this library wasn't really ever to create solo guitar or solo mandolin patches etc. The hope was to provide an ensemble of players in a really seamless layout making the composing/arranging more intuitive and natural. So if you use it as an ensemble, it's not limited by range at all, but if you're looking for one instrument to carry a big solo part, it'll feel a little stiff!

When you say there's a free version of this library, you mean just the dulcimer?

There's actually a free version of this exact library with limited articulations! If you follow the link to Pianobook there's an option to log in to the website and download it! (unlike the paid version, you will need the full version of Kontakt unfortunately)

Sorry does not run my Kontakt 5.9. and I will not install the Player for good reason. I guess for Black Friday I buy Sonokinetic or another compatible Libary. I think in future it’s for Pianobook artists with paid libaries better not to follow the strategy of Native Instruments to run a registration key.
