I think the team of writers on this show were the best. The soliloquy they provide for Detective Clover is pure poetry.

I love this show, but one thing I've never quite understood is this: The show portrays the stretch of Broadway from Times Square to Columbus Circle as the gaudiest, the most violent, the lonesomest mile in the world. Hmmmm. I've lived in NYC since 1971 and walked that stretch regularly for years, not that long after the show, and it's simply lots of office buildings, coffee shops, stores (some fancy) and theaters and touristy stuff as you get near Times Square. A tad gaudy - lots of overprice tchotchkes at some of the stores - but violent? But I like listening to the fantasy version in any case - especially at night.

Very interesting. I was disappointed that it didn't live up to my west coast, Fosse imagination. But our Hollywood Blvd doesn't live up to the world's imagination of Hollywood stars & glitz & glamor. In fact, it's very much like the description of Broadway.
