This reminds me a lot of local Magic tournaments. These guys find the most powerful net deck in the meta, and have no idea how to pilot it. This is one of the more severe cases, though, considering all pirate warrior needs to do is smork.

I think a pure "face" approach of the Warrior would have lost always, though. With lifetap, you can play a heavy board control game with Warrior - just need to know when to go face. But all those weapons and fast cards make this a rather strong style of play.

Unless it was close because the Warrior played well.. he leveraged his life total for cards and to keep minions (or better minions) swinging repeatedly.

the warrior didnt play poorly at all. Some plays might not have been optimal, but trading was necessary in a lot of those situations if he didnt want priest to snowball the board.

With life tap you can afford to trade sometimes as pirate warrior. If you just go all in vs a reno deck and they heal to full and board clear you you just lose so trading makes sense if you can get card advantage.

Except that's not the things he did wrong. Attacking with his weapon before attacking with the deckhands, not attacking at all with Green Skin, Sequencing as well as several odd choices of card plays. The dude was like half playing.

To me, that played similarly to a Midrange deck, using weapons/spells and sheer numbers to make favorable trades on the Board while pressuring the face overtime. However, in the case of that Pirate Warrior, that strategy would've fallen flat on his face had he Discovered something OTHER than Life Tap.

You know, looking back at this, I almost wonder if the warrior, upon getting Life Tap, recognizing you were playing Reno, and knowing how many weapon buffs were in his deck, intentionally decided to try and play a longer game so that he could get through all of your heals. If you look at it this way, it actually seems pretty smart. Guess not all pirate warriors are morons.

SonOfNenji Life tap is generally considered better, draws that allow you to not run out of steam is better than 2 damage to face each turn given that you don't use 2 mana that turn which is inefficient.

I don't think so. Steady Shot simply requires prioritizing the face more than he did that match. Pirate Warrior is a Face deck, after all. Life Tap simply made it more important to keep minions alive and act like a classic Zoo deck. "[only] close [...] because of Sir Finley getting life tap So dumb" Is not true. It doesn't even matter if Life Tap is slightly better, because it would have still been good enough to invalidate the above jeering complaint.
