That is a good question but he also made the error of adding a card draw card to his deck and then continuing to tap a lot. On 2 he could have played the Jeweled Scarab, followed by the card he drew from the Jeweled Scarab on 3, instead he tapped twice and found his hand was to full to play the curator. That said, Warlock doesn't need card draw...

Reno decks have the tradeoff of being less consistent, as you often sacrifice a single deck theme, but the advantage of having a bigger variety of cards to deal with a bigger variety of situations. It's not necessarily a "Reno Deck" per se, but Reno is the card that enables this multi-'styled' deck (and smooths out if the game goes super long)

Chris - Well I mean. They have a lot of answers for your four taunts plus a druid of the claw and infested tauren. You can only build a reasonable board with taunts twice, so consecrate and add minions, and then pyro equality. There's just no way unless they throw or both everyfins are at the bottom. Not to mention if you try and save twisting nether so they run out of minions the 8 damage burst from warleader +2(charge) seems likely to be lethal. I can see maybe...getting n'zoth to bring back infested tauren to add taunts? And the murlocs being at the bottom? If twisting is saved. Non-everyfin control paladin is a good matchup for renolock. You feel unstoppable. Without the burst it's still a good matchup. But with no burst against everyfin the hope meter just goes into the gutter yaknow?

I don't think Curator makes much sense in Reno decks. You typically wont have many beast, murloc, or dragons in a Reno deck, and curator is only good if he can reliably draw cards. Statwise he's a 5 drop at best, and BogChamp is a better 7 mana taunt (on stats). Seems particularly bad in Reno Lock since you don't really need extra card draw and there are so many good cards to choose from, but you're shoehorning like 4 "bad" cards in to make Curator "work." Edit. Well.. seems Trump came to a similar conclusion after his science was done. lol

KarstenOkk Yeah that sounds about right. I think he fits into decks that can naturally run like 2x drake, 2x kodo, and maybe some other beast or dragon. Murlocs can be difficult since most of them suck in non-murloc decks, though corrupted seer and/or Finley might work in some decks. Though I think it's better to not try to force the 3rd card draw from Curator if it would mean adding bad cards to your deck. Ironically i think it would have worked better in a non-Reno version of Nzoth or Anyfin Paladin, since those decks do tend to normally run 2 drake 2 kodo anyway. But Trump keeps trying to force the Reno deck.

+Chris - Discount is actually rarely of any influence in a control game. You generally play 1 or 2 cards a turn and hero power. You kind of outvalue your opponent, not out-tempo them by playing more than your usual amount of cards in one turn.

the problem is that renolock and handlock both depended on molten giant for the "comeback" turn. Without them is just not good enough and not worth to sacrifice 1 off your good cards.

Plenty of people have actually had success(as in getting to legend)with reno and handlock. But yes, the brutal, total overkill nerf of molten giant was a big hit for those decks. Thanks Blizzard for the middle finger to control decks.

I'm sad at how badly Trump is playing. Not playing azure drake to remove the dragon from his hand, playing the wrong enter the colosseum when opponent already knows he took a 6 mana spell from ivory knight, not playing around noble sacrifice or freezing trap despite enemy having both a hunter and paladin secret. All of that happened in a single game.
