I have a dream, that there will be a control meta in my lifetime
@strykerten560
@strykerten560 9 жыл бұрын
Kirk W Compared to playing against nothing but freeze mage and control warrior at the higher ranks before naxx, I prefer the state of the game now haha. There is a pretty decent variety of competitive decks right now. Hell, there are still new decks suddenly showing up at top legend even recently, the meta has hardly grown stale
@Eratrion
@Eratrion 9 жыл бұрын
don't.. when there's a control meta in MTG, people always hate it.. I remember the last time card like Sphinx's Revelation dominated standard, top tournaments composed of like 50% of these control decks. There was a deck that could beat it in most matchups but it was bad against the rest of those, so basically you didn't have a choice.
@Thelonelyreign
@Thelonelyreign 9 жыл бұрын
Kirk W you missed it. miracle rogue was pretty much a 90% of the meta. And people still called it cancer... and besides no one wants that. It it was all control decks all the FTP people like me would quit. And there goes 40ish% (roughly) of the people that play the game and then the meta will be even more cancer then it ever has been.

jo o i wanna quit when its all fuckin face hunters and mech mage lol thats worse imo
@Thelonelyreign
@Thelonelyreign 9 жыл бұрын
Kirk W its not all face hunters and mech mage, not even close. Besides if you're good at the game you can easily beat those decks with a control deck.

I understand why they made the sapper type cards, but also agree there should be cards to punish people with fewer cards.
@Aces00
@Aces00 9 жыл бұрын
It might be good when/if midrange decks make a return. Against control decks, you'll easily get the +4 attack. Against aggro, the 2/4 statline is efficient for trades with 2 drops. It fits the midrange goal of controlling aggro decks and rushing down control decks.

Wouldn't Sea Giants work best? If the opponent is constantly playing cards to avoid the extra damage from the sappers, wouldn't there be a greater chance that you could play a Sea Giant for less mana?

crazy odds to come across a fatigue deck like that while using your own in arena.
@lkjkhfggd
@lkjkhfggd 9 жыл бұрын
The effect of the sapper just almost never happens in arena, so whatev, he's basically just a 3 mana 2/4. I used to think the stats of 3 mana 2/4 was pretty good, but because of Ogre Brute and Spider Tank being so powerful, I need the extra attack from a 3/3. It's also vulnerable to the 3/2 into Sun Shattered combo, which is basically GG. I take it in arena all the time because it's often the best dude out of a shitty pack, but man, it sure is disappointing when you're playing a class like Shaman to take this when you could have been offered a Lightning Storm, Feral Spirit, or even a Mana Tide Totem instead.

The card is usually really good if you have to go first, because that lets you play it when the opponent has lots of cards. They usually play poorly, just to play more cards or sometimes even waste hard removal on it. Also it really helps if the opponent plays early drops that are not Shielded Minibot and Zombie Chow, since you trade 2 for 1 or 1 for 1 + Hero Power, which slows them down.

Belz Zebuth This is how it works, During his stream he'll do something cool or have a good match and he'll write down the time with a note like "Awesome mill game" or "Bad deathlord play" or something, Then he'll come to youtube and mash those clips together to make a video. Most of this stuff we're watching is 4-7 days old. So this current video i've already seen live, The only original content is the 5-8 minutes in the opener when he does analysis

@strykerten560
@strykerten560 9 жыл бұрын
CUB3M4ST3R Eh, it kinda makes sense. The idea is basically to take advantage of the "mill cards" by simply not caring about how big your opponents hand is because the game will be over long before turn 10. For instance dancing swords is a terrible card because giving your opponent card advantage is awful in the long run. If there isnt a long run though, and you have some synergy such as naturalize and clockwork giant, it makes senseThe main problem I ran into when trying it was that you get absolutely no value from the clockwork giants even if you play them for 3 mana because everyone runs BGH. If you get no value from clockwork giant the deck loses a lot of its upside. You can still put on some pretty strong tempo thanks to innervate and naturalize, but there are other decks that can do a decent job at it too like zoolockAlso something interesting to note, the deck became about as much weaker as it became stronger with GvG. The new cards make the deck stronger, sure, but all the sticky minions that are out there now make naturalize a hell of a lot worse
