Novaland You do not stay in legend, you get placed in a rank based on how many bounus stars (from win steaks) you have. Normally it's between rank 12 to rank 5.

Ranks 13-12 were hell. I can't tell you how many stupid Reynad Dragon Priests i fought to get through to rank 11, and everyone is just playing the same 4 decks. I've realized that since hearthstone has been out for a while, pretty much everyone who plays has built up a collection of legendaries, and people never cease to net deck. If it's not dragon priest, it's eboladin/midrange pally, face hunter, or control warrior with the occasional patron. Then there's shaman totems, and the new warlock combo deck with dreadsteed (that one blew me away when i played it). I started very late this season, so i'll go for legend in the next one, but I honestly hope that the meta broadens a little bit and the hype calms down so we see some more diversity.

Played ~20 ranked games from rank 20-11. One out of 20 of those decks had a new card in them. The rest were the normal face-hunter, control warrior, mech mage, patron warrior etc. Not a single card changed

Getting legend with a sub-50% win rate would take a rediculous amount of games/time - I don't think that's actually physically possible without some pathological pattern (lose 200 games at rank 20 and then win streak to the top) or playing basically as your full time job (streamers). And you'd need to have some batch of games at the end of your season where you won 25 more than you lost which is .. unlikely with a win % under 50. I think the difficulty is being a bit undersold, but congrats on getting it Kripp

I think the worst thing about hearthstone is the gravitation towards meta decks that are tried and tested. Like Kripp said, ladder is most fun when things are random. When you can guess every card your opponent had by turn 2 it really takes the fun out of the game.
