After pinging, the odds that your opponent would survive the madder bomber was exactly 43997/1016064 (about 4.33%) So that outcome will occur about once every 23 times. Not even THAT unlucky ;)

tylerme14 actually because madder bomber can't overkill something and there was only 7 health on the board only 1 of 4 targets could survive. So the odds were 25% for both players and 50% for a draw... way less crazy than it seems

My math is correct. If you care enough to comment that I'm wrong, you might be interested enough to read through how to do the problem yourself: Start with a piece of paper with the numbers 4, 1, 1, 1 written on it. This represents the health of each character that could be hit. Draw 2 branches off this array. One will say 3, 1, 1, 1; and the second will say 4, 1, 1. These represent the new health of each character that survived the first bomb. The outcome where the Mage is hit is not included, as we are looking only for outcomes where he "wins". Write the odds of each of these outcomes happening: 1/4 for the 3-1-1-1, and 1/2 for the 3-1-1. Repeat branching process for each of the 6 bombs, keeping track of the probability of each path to victory, and then add the totals at the end. Your total should simplify to 43997/1016064, the number listed above. I hope you learned something today :3

Is there a proper way to calculate this though? What you're doing is brute force method of drawing the entire tree out. Like say bommber drops N bombs for n number of 1 health targets

If all targets had 1 health, it would be simple multiplication, but because one target has 4 health, it becomes complex in this way. I'm not aware of the "fast" method to calculate it, but I would assume there's an algorithm out there somewhere. If someone textured and packaged that as part of a Hearthstone Companion app, it would be easy money, honestly because of all of the missile and bomb effects in the game. (Imagine you have a 50/50 to draw Hammer of Wrath for lethal, but if you play the Novice Engineer you're out of mana for your Avenging Wrath...so which line is better?)

I'm with Krustypizza on this one. It's still a 6 mana 8\8, at the best of times (5, if you get a coin), but, on average, I'd say it's an 8 mana 8\8. It's not bad, but, generally, you can do better when you get to pick 1 out of 3 epic cards. He must have either gotten pretty unlucky in that regard, or just wasn't thinking clearly.

Vincent Peng it's correct to hero power first but if he wanted to win he should have shot the scarab or the yeti. Because as it stood the Mage had a 25% to win with a 50% to draw. But shooting a minion down would change the odds to 33% to win with a 33% to draw. Which is the correct play if you want to win and the wrong play if you just don't want to lose.

Alex Miller I am pretty sure something is wrong in your calculation. No theory need here. The win rate cannot be that high for sure.(It's probably 1/7 = 14%) There will be 7 health in total(hero+minion) no matter where you hero power, right? So tell me, pin face or the minion?
