The thing about amalgam is... it dies, and then you maybe see it once more in the game if you're lucky. It seems like it wants to be in a deck with a bunch of "draw a beast/mech/whatever" effects that will only hit the amalgam so that you can keep playing and buffing it. But at that point the deck is built so exclusively around amalgam that it gets completely wrecked by silence/transform/Yogg/Reno.

the card itself has serious design flaws. it needs a dedicated deck built around it while not offering enough of a threat to win on its own. remember Sunscale Raptor? that Hunter 1 drop that shuffled a buffed copy of itself into the deck on Frenzy? yeah that card had the same problem. I doubt we see even one good Adaptive Amalgam deck after other decks refine their lists.

The thing that I have discovered is that the new hunter weapon tutors the amalgam right from the deck. With weapon technician and bargain bin you always have access to the amalgam. Then you can use the new all you can eat (warrior) card to draw your combo pieces (windfury pirate and Jormangar are the wincon).

Mech rogue and use gear shift and knick knack shack to draw fast. Use gear shift ideally with no cards in hand. Magnetize stuff to amalgam and since you draw a lot, you may see it more. Rogue titan can give it elusive

I built a flood paladin deck with amalgam that works in legend. Just give it windfury, buff it with auras, then you’ll see it 1-2 more times with boogie downs. You can even run two boogie downs compared to the usual 1 off since it shuffles back.

First warlock missed lethal already anyways. Instead of playing Ouroubos he could have used Spirit Bomb to kill the 1/2 and then played his sludge.

I wonder if Amalgam is better suited to a DK hand buff deck where it’s not trying to be a win-con but a complimentary piece. Could gain poison and reborn as a bonus, although no idea how reborn works with the enchantments?

with reborn, it should work like Thassarian: triggering its deathrattle and then coming back with 1 hp. so reborn shuffles extra unbuffed copies into the deck which is terrible.

Per your comments maybe cut Magatha and one Containment Unit for two Through Fel and Flames, but keep one Containment Unit to have one huge impact buff on your Amalgams?

5:56 Not playing to your outs. One amalgam band could have saved you there if you hit exactly rush+poisonous+lifesteal or rush+poisonous+divine shield+windfury.
