(Hearthstone) Secret Stealth Rogue Slog

It definitely felt like both decks just ran out of steam about half way through so we had to just watch them flail pathetically at one another until one eeked out a win. I cautiously hope the secret or stealth stuff will find a home but I doubt it will be together.

I don't think the secret and stealth stuff will end up fitting together. Stealth is more aggressive, secret is more defensive.

A rogue stealth deck has been on the verge of working in the past and one figured one one thing with that: Never. Ever. Again! It's a cool deck for sure but the way you interact with most minions is by targeting them. Charge had the problem of giving you no time to do so, stealth prevents it instead. The only way to combat the deck (and remember this was still not a massively powerful deck either) was with untargetable taunts which... There weren't many of before and there's even fewer now, except in druid. So... For q successful or at all effective stealth rogue deck to work it has to be faster and hit harder than what druids are able to ramp. That would mean that rogues would counter everything that wasn't druid, druid counters rogue and you'd still be left with needing something to counter druid. Stealth is a cool mechanic but the way it works in Hearthstone... It wouldn't make for fun gsmeplay.

@@ArgentumEmperio You need some uninteractive mechanics to make aggression work in a Rush meta. You can still defend with Taunts, AoE and lifegain, so every class has their options. Personally, I really hope the Stealth stuff works out as I'm not excited for another greedy highroll meta.

From what I've seen so far from other streamers, the secret package and the stealth package don't work too well each other. Prolly best to use those packages on different decks, say maybe stealth galakrond rouge?

The stealth package seems very weak and doesn't have enough stealth lovers to justify running it. And the secret package is odd, if you don't draw the legendary you run out of cards very quickly so you probably have to support it with a lot of card draw or just put some searchers (too bad Piper is rotating out)

@@atlas6538 Not sure if you know what gas is or not. Running out of gas is when a priest ja healing to full and playing giant threats and the tempo is swinging in their favor it doesnt matter if you go to fatigue vs someone spamming aoe clears when they have 7 health left and then die.

'Gas' doesn't literally mean cards in this sense, it's acceleration. You can see both decks go from playing a bunch of cards to playing one, maybe two, cards on a turn. Sure, the priest had that one turn where he turbo buffed that dude, but that was it for him, he had nothing left to really swing back with. Kibler's deck, on the other hand, felt like it's too reliant on that one secret generating card and nothing else. It just doesn't do anything.

It discovers a secret from a different class to the one you played. So at that timestamp he played a rogue secret, picked from between paladin/hunter/mage, then picked a hunter secret, played it, and picked from between paladin/mage/rogue.

to everyone joking about how ppl said "this deck doesn't seem good at all" yeah, if you draw secret keeper into secrets in your opening hand, secret decks tend to be reasonable. you can't do that reliably without ways to tutor secrets, and rogue doesn't have that. no secret deck has ever been good without the ability to tutor/cheat out secrets. these secrets are very reasonable, but i don't think they will change that. plus the only secret pay off card is reactive not proactive. It's all very powerful, but it isn't going to come together yet

Edwin is such a good card, I doubt you won't play it because it has a bit of anti synergy with bamboozle. Also, you still have to deal with a six drop afterwards which is not bad

You can just not have them in play at the same time. Most games are going to have a lot of minion combat so bamboozle shouldn't sit in play for ages, it shouldn't be too difficult to just wait for a better opportunity if you don't want to risk trading one of those for a random 6-drop.

I skipped the boring parts of the video, so I don't know the exact order, but if Kibler played every minion to the right-most side, couldn't Soul Mirror sequence the attacks in timestamp order, and we wouldn't know? Like, the first one who attacks from Soul Mirror is the first minion Kibler played. If Kibler plays every minion to the right-hand side, then the order at 5:10 is ambiguous between positioning and timestamp.

Putting that aggro priest card in their deck might have costed them the win; just think if that had been an AoE instead. Also I’m not sure how viable it is for priest to fill their deck with buffs right now. They are good buff cards, but remember that paladin has good buff cards too and a buff-style deck did not see play until Galvadon and Lynessa gave you rewards for playing them. You’d have to have some REALLY good synergies to justify including the new PW:S. That said, the little Lyra-like card looks very cool and I think you would play it with targeted spells you’re already including, like SW:D and Forbidden Words

The stealth core, actually isn't very good, decent for sure but not meta, the secret instead as you can see it's the complete opposite, the legendary alone generated so much value that you still out tempo the enemy for 2 turn, the meta rogue Will definitily be secret galakrond rogue with akama instead of edwin (because of bambooZle)

It's hardly refined. The stealth stuff probably works a lot better in a deck more built for aggro, whereas the secret stuff doesn't do that very well. It'll be interesting to see if either archetype can carve a place in the meta.
