Trying to play around yogg is like trying to play around shredder. You kill it before playing cards and they get mana wraith. You kill it after and they get doomsayer. Playing around one yogg state is just playing into another. Nothing you do matters. Free will is an illusion.

Hi Kibler! Big fan of the videos and I wanted to share my version of the list. I mix in the n'zoth theme as a finisher. All you have to add to make it work is a sylvanas, cairne, and n'zoth. My list is a little different but I believe I'm running only 1 book wyrm, 1 ivory knight and I dropped the keeper. Rezzing Tirion is already pretty nuts and sylvanas is just a great card. The cards that get cut aren't really helping your aggro matchups enough to not warrant the change but the n'zoth package adds a ton more threats vs other grindy dragon decks that are running around as well as flat out control decks. You slam n''zoth down vs some decks and you flat out win. Just thought I'd throw it out there!

Sorry Brian, but I disagree with your opinion on Yogg. After having lost a ton of games, in which I've been ahead the entire time while keeping in mind to limit the board in case of the inevitable Yogg, I beg to differ. Yogg just allows you to throw spells around on the board and Yogg on 10 for extreme value. It doesn't matter whether I've had card advantage or board advantage, Yogg comes in and brings crazy amounts of value onto the board with a bunch of draw, clears, and value added (things like casting 'Thoughtsteal' 'Burgle') Yogg was fun at first, and it's always interesting to see it being played, but now it always ends up with me feeling disgusted by the loss. Not even losing to aggro is comparable to losing to pure RNG.
@Aknilox8 жыл бұрын
I was playing deathrattle priest and I had lethal on board with 3 minions. He had 3 cards left in the deck,made like 20 spells.Topdecked yogg saron,clearing my board,dealing 26 damage to my face. healing him for 6 and putting 5 more guys on his board. I had board clear and next turn he topdecked fireball... İf I did anything like him I would draw at least 5 cards and die to fatigue.

you got your opinion based on your continuous losing? that just makes you a salty player that attacks a card for being "OP" maybe once you hit legend a couple times and make it high in tournaments, then you can sound reasonable. "I lost so many times to this card, so this card is op" is not a valid reason
@collaide8 жыл бұрын
Anecdotal evidence at its finest
@MrYomaaaan8 жыл бұрын
2011carp Yeah, exactly. But isn't all that you read an opinion at best? If you want facts then one has to do a proper research taking into account hundreds of games. Yeah, it is MY opinion on a card in a game, you might have a different view of it. So, instead of telling me that all I'm doing is being salty and how i don't have the right to express a view since I haven't "made it into a tournament", which by itself is an incredibly narrow minded manner of looking at things, why don't you make counter arguments? And I just re-read your comment and realised that you didn't even address the issues I had with the card.
@javierescserr15208 жыл бұрын
as +Brian Kibler has stated, those case are outliers, most of the times Yogg saron kills the board, draws some cards and play some secrets while dealing damage with bias towards enemy, he is a 10 mana spell that requires a deck build on spells and on certain way him being so powerfull is what enables those kind of decks that are pretty intersting to play and see, since they requiere way more than play on curve. Its a card game and has inherent RNG in the draws, we could argue that losing to perfect aggro opening is also bullshit luck, while yogg keeps building his win condition towards the game.
@TheOobo8 жыл бұрын
That is the best argument for yogg and other good random elements I've heard. Great work Kibby.

Yogg reduces the game essentially to a coin flip. You play it and the game is reset, putting you at a 50% chance to win/lose the game. You could have played perfectly, the opponent could have played abysmally and then get carried by Yogg. That one card simply destroyed the competitive scene.
@MrElionor8 жыл бұрын
More like a Dungeons and Dragons dice roll also if it was actually guaranteed to reset the game and gave you a guaranteed 50% to win it would be a lot more powerful but unfortunately it's a hell of a lot more dynamic then that under different conditions it has different chances of success sorry if you can't understand that and have to reduce it to the most basic levels of RNG and did Hearthstone destroy the competitive scene?

That's just insane. This is why I love to watch you play, Kibler! I like Yogg. It is a fun element in a game where lately, all I'm facing is decks designed to curve out and face attack 100%. The problem with Yogg (and most RNG elements) is that people remember what f***ed them over what... basically did nothing or what won them the game. People remember (and hate) the times where Yogg gave the opponent a call of the wild, cleared their own side, and then buffed Huffer for lethal rather than Yogg being played at fatigue and using 3 draws that killed them. I do, however, find the "RNG bad" argument interesting. It's a card game. I can lose to RNG in a million ways. Deck order of draw (why is Syl always after N'zoth?)... Lightning Storm being all 2s after a healing totem on an empty board... like RNG exists in this game. It always will. Almost no deck building will circumvent that and... Remember, that one game where you lost to a ridiculous Yogg might be someone's furst ridiculous Yogg and might be the reason they keep playing and help keep the game alive and kicking with more new stuff tomorrow, next week and beyond.
@Gi0kay8 жыл бұрын
I agree, but Yogg's case is different. Yogg by its very design effectively almost invalidates the entire game leading up to the Yogg. In fact, more often than not, a Yogg will not only not make you lose the game, but seems to have an average positive outcome from the most desperate game states. In the end it seems to boil down to "When you play this card, roll a die. If you roll 1 or 2, you lose instantly. If you roll 3 or higher, you win". If Hearthstone wants to have ANY semblance of a strategy element in the game cards like that, especially on ladder and in tournaments, are quite simply unacceptable.
@Bakamojo8 жыл бұрын
I disagree. I remember both and it feels cheesy as hell when I'm being totally outplayed and I drop a Yogg and win. Three or four shot glasses is a good time 40 and we'll be attending your funeral. RNG is good but there is such a thing as too much of anything and Yogg is way way too much. Brian's defense of Yogg is weak and almost sounds like he's on the Blizz payroll. There are things you can do to effect Yogg? The same can be said about most RNG given the right circumstances. So what? It's still way too much RNG.

Hi, could you change the FPS of your stream to 30? The video is getting artifacts when there are a lot of changes on screen because your bitrate isn't high enough (yes, I know that it's the highest Twitch can handle) and there is really no difference in 30 vs 60 FPS for Hearthstone. You can check it out from 5:40 when you use Truesilver and Consecration. (It looks the same on Twitch, it's not a youtube issue)

On topic of Yogg: Competetive should not be decided by RNG. As Firebat recently mentioned, when top ranked players have their matches decided almost completely by random effects, that's not a game of skill, it's most certainly a game of dice throwing. Yogg is way too unpredictable for Hearthstone currently to qualify as a competetive game. Like, dude. Look at Trumps most recent uploads. He had a game with mage that completely flipped around only because of Yogg, and Trump basically had no way to play around it. You have a way to counter almost anything, when you build a deck. Heavy control? Hard removal and value cards. Board presence midrange? Boardclears and good removal. Aggressive decks? Concede(lol) Yogg? Eh... Guess - not playing the game?
@ScaryScarab218 жыл бұрын
It's a card game, random effects are part of the game and always should be.
@nemtudom50748 жыл бұрын
If you were talking about a game like csgo you would be right. But card games are dice rolls at their core and taking that away would make them incredibly dull.
@Eon26418 жыл бұрын
Yeah, random effects are fine, cards that basically up-end the table are not. Yogg's effect is so powerful that, when you look at the two extreme ends of his spectrum, his card text might as well read "Battlecry: flip a coin. If heads you win, if tails you lose." and that's crazy unbalanced. Kibler's right that there are things you can do to play around more moderate Yogg's but sometimes playing him just literally wins a game in an unwinnable scenario and that's not very fun.
@nemtudom50748 жыл бұрын
Eon2641 Its balanced.
@Eon26418 жыл бұрын
nem tudom That is clearly not balanced. A card like that means that you can win from literally any position, it eliminates all skill going into it up to that point. If you think just having RNG is enough to do that then you have no idea how card games actually work. Or RNG in a competitive setting, for that matter.

Although I think Yogg is an extremely overpowered card and should be adjusted, I keep reminding myself that it's a deck that encourages players to try other decks that make matches last more than 6 or 7 rounds. I love control decks and it's the only thing I play with in hearthstone. Before yogg it was either agro paladin or aggro shaman, but with WTOG, it made it a lot more possible to try out fun and stupid decks. Yogg is the second deck/option that aggro players like to play when they're bored of shaman and it makes me happy because you CAN counter it if you have a good control deck.

Yogg is really, really bad these days. Just look at how many spells end the battlecry and the number of valid targets for those spells, that's the chance that he basically fizzles. Then move ahead one spell and do it again, that's the chance that he fizzles after one spell... but you also have to look at whether that spell did anything productive, because many spells that don't end the yogging still aren't beneficial to you. Repeat this process as many times as necessary. I don't know what the percentage chance is that he just instantly wins the game on the spot, but it's low. Really, really low.
