I think because the whirling combatant was the last thing to deal damage to the minions before they died it gave it credit for all the kills, not the spell

@@remyllebeau77 technically, the minions were finished by the minions's frenzy. So a kill means the last thing to deal damage to a minion that results in it having HP equal to or less than 0

@@YarMoLight In MtG if a newly released card has special interactions with specific game mechanics, you can usually find it under that card's rulings though. Also every rule is explained in detail, so there isn't anything ambigous. If you don't know how a card interacts with something, then it is your fault since you didn't investigated the rulings carefully or in-depth enough. So it isn't like Heartstone which Blizzard says "We coded this card, but we won't share how we did it, you playtest it instead to find special interactions.".

Actualy its quite simple.A minion with divine shield tag, will get his divine shield removed, but that one got his divine shield through frenzy, so it stays even if its silenced.

@@laptuca2007 It's not correct, buffs get cleared by silence whether they are innate, self created, or added by another. It would be one thing if it was on the same stack but the buff was already applied prior to silence Edit: they fixed it

That last interaction. Is it because Whirling Combatant hit the other minions last that the game considered it killing them instead of Cycle of Hatred? Even though some of the minions were already at 0 hp? Is it why Cycle of Hatred didn’t summon spirits?

Yeah, I guess the game sees 'Whirling combatant hit last > it must have killed the minions', only thing to do it to test another card like the warlock AoE that discards to check if its everything or just cycle of hatred

Yeah, the game doesn't process deaths immediately, but follows a set order of events. Similar oddities can happen when Arcane Missiles clears a full board with some minions that spawn others when taking damage. The board remains full of dead minions until the spell has finished, leaving no space for "whenever this takes damage summon X"

Now I want to test if Samuro + Soulrend works that way too and doesn't discard any cards from enemy minions killed

For the record, Samuro + Soulrend doesn't seem to work like that and proceeds to discard the correct amount of cards so they either fixed the bug, it was specific to Whirling Combatant and/or Cycle of Hatred, or I'm missing something about the glitch

The divine shield silence interaction is apperanty correct according to blizzard. On all other divine shield minions the divine shield is a key word on the card so it can be silenced. On this minion the text is "Frenzi: Get divine shield" and this is the text being silenced, not the divine shield itself

But it's also supposed to remove all enhancements, not just card text. For example if you give a minion divine shield with the 1 mana spell, silence can remove it although it's not part of the minion's card text

Pretty funny how the first handful of clips is perfectly accurate. Very rarely has an expansion come out and I have no desire to even play the game anymore, I do tend to just try and do my dailies but oddly the game can sometimes be enjoyable to keep playing but not even with any of these new cards now. Outlands was absolute trash when that hit and now this, not sure what was worse, answering every broken thing DH would play and still dying or not even being able to interact with 95% of what mage does and dying?

The Divine Shield clip is interesting. Silence removes all text from the card, but Divine Shield is not a part of the text. It gains Divine Shield when it takes damage, and then the text becomes inactive, because Frenzy only triggers once. Because Divine Shield isn't actually a keyword on the card itself, it isn't removed by silence.

That's wrong though since silence also removes buffs from other sources that weren't originally text on the card. Because silence doesn't only affect text that was on the card is why it's run when people play minion buffs. Basically there should be no difference between divine shield given by frenzy and one given by something like hand of protection.

A lot of the interactions in this expansion are broken af. Piercing Shot (4 mana deal 6 damage to a minion, deal excess to face) doesn't work either. If you target Taelan with divine shield, it deals 0 damage to Taelan and 3 damage to face.

I swear, how the fuck this game is coded is beyond me. They give the Yandere Simulator dev a run for his money.
