Joe's career trajectory cannot be emphasized enough. It's mind blowing he went from auditioning with a self made video in his bedroom on the Isle of Men, never having acted professionally before, to not only landing a co-lead role in a hit Netflix series for his first job ever but to then also landing a Marvel male lead role. Insane and so well deserved! Also a very needed reminder to break into stereotypical casting processes by doing open calls.

Getting Olivia Colman was icing on the cake. I can't imagine any of the lead characters being replaced. The new faces are a welcome change for launching a project like this. As epic as the Stranger Things kids all making it big. Congrats to Kit and Bash and Joe. Great performances.

Incredible casting, wonderful story. Unless you lived through the days when being gay was illegal, socially a death sentence and justification for being fired, evicted, disinherited, disenfranchised and refused goods and services (and still is in most of the world), you cannot imagine the impact a show like this also has on its older audience, such as myself. Even though I was never personally mistreated or disowned by my family, colleagues or friends, there was always the fear I could land in prison for being gay. Thank you to the wonderful Heartstopper creators, cast and crew for the vivid storytelling and its delivery by a such a beautiful, diverse cast.

I remember "The Imitation Game". Ugly times that aren't so far. Things have improved, obviously, but there is still a long way to go. I read older audience reviews on imdb and found that some of them considered the show an offense, not taking into account what they had to endure in real life, even today. I'm glad there are also people like you, who see it for what it actually is. Solace and a glimpse of hope.

Joe's audition process reminds me a little bit of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint & Emma Watson for harry potter, just with 1 audition their lives changed forever but with Daniel was also thanks to Dame Maggie Smith because she have worked with him before, but this cast is pure perfection especially Kit, Joe & Olivia Colman ❤

Why is it that Elle has one of the easiest names ever but she always gets called “Ella” or “Ellie”? Anyways, I LOVE this cast. No one could’ve portrayed these characters better. I especially love Kit Connors portrayal of someone discovering their sexuality even though they always thought they were straight. I personally always thought I was straight and that I was just an ally. However, recently, I discovered that I am bisexual and Kit Connor and his portrayal of Nick Nelson as well as some of the things Kit has been through, has made me feel a lot more comfortable with it and with coming out. I never thought I’d come out to my parents or friends, but because of Kit and everything he’s gone through in real life and shown in the show, I’ve come out to about 10 of my friends and to my dad. I never could’ve done it without this show or without Kit Connor, the amazing actor and human he is. Nothing but love to the entire cast for not only this show, but also for how they handled the homophobes at London Pride. I will never be ashamed to say that Heartstopper is my favorite show/series to read and to watch. ❤❤❤❤

Not read or heard of the books before came across HS S1 on Netflix (under the LGBTQ+ section) last year thought I might of been too old to watch/be into this but watched it regardless and so happy I did absolutely obsessed with this show the casting is unbelievable probably the best I've ever come across in something like this to Alice and everyone that's been/are involed in making Heartstopper THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for this beautiful and amazing show and to the cast you are all amazing/talented individuals! The way he portrays Nick's emotions is incredible. Like, he should win an Emmy level. Also, it's comments like yours that made him have a body image problem. I'll never understand the need of some people to be so negative. I've read Red, white and royal blue. Alex is supposed to be much shorter than the Prince. So no, the casting is not 100% accurate. Does it matter? Of course not. The actors play their roles perfectly, that's what matters.
