as a teenager it felt so surreal when kit said “we’re both mature for our age but at the same time we’re still kids and it can be scary being out in the scary world” & “i feel like every eye is on us and every move we make we think it’s wrong” you have to remember that with managing school and work + career it can be very overwhelming being put out there in public especially because you don’t know what the reaction will be but I want to let both Kit and Joe know they’re both doing amazing jobs and i’m so proud of them and I hope they knew that the show and the acting helped save lives from closeted teenagers including myself ❤

Olivia Colman, is showbiz royalty. . She didn't need a cameo, in what was at the time, was thought to be, a ''small'' movie for a limited audience with an unknown cast. Now, for her to take the time and interest to Defend Kit, after the fact, is truly monumental! She deserves grand accolades and a "Crown!"

A really lovely interview - they're both exceptionally eloquent for the age that they are. It was quite sad to hear Kit say that it feels like everything they do is a mistake. You're both handling fame incredibly well, and I'm sure it can be really stressful at times. Just make sure that you're only staying in this industry while the positives outweigh the negatives! Also, they're talking about how exhausted they are, but then Netflix flies them out to Brazil literally 2 hours after wrapping to do a load of press! Let these people breathe, haha.

What a great interviewer! Empathetic, well-informed and obviously interested-in-the-answers, making Kit and Joe much more comfortable (than most) and, thus, giving them the option to answer even more insightful than in other interviews. Why are they so mature and intelligent? Is it in their nature? Is it the responsibility? The two boys are impossibly lovely and humble. It's a crime how they are treated by some.

A really thoughtful interview. I appreciated the way that the questions were brief but meaningful, and that the interviewer gave them the space to speak. The care with which the second-to-last question was asked was unusually tasteful, bringing up a potentially painful subject but in a respectful way and giving Kit the space to say as much or as little as he felt comfortable with. So well done! I wish more interviewers had your skill and thoughtfulness.

I pray and genuinely worry for these young people. We all have struggles and burdens in this life. Not all of us are fortunate to have people in our lives to share those struggles and burdens with. From what I've seen, these young people have a community of individuals both personally and professionally that help keep them grounded and offer the support they need when they need it. It's impossible to be OKAY all of the time and it's important for people to know that it's okay not to be OKAY! Stay away from unhealthy coping mechanisms that so many actors / actresses develop.
@Linyenwa11 ай бұрын
I worry about them, too. Joe talking about developing body dysmorphia as a result of all the looks based bullying he got. In his BV what's in my bag fairly recently he mentioned his therapist. I guess it's good he gets the help he needs but all of this could've been avoided.

I very much enjoy the discussion about teens and mental health. I had a young teen come live with me-turns out a queer teen (I’m in the LGBTQ community as well). It was not a foster situation in that she asked if she could move in. At some point, I realised she might benefit from therapy given her family situation just as I could have but was too afraid to ask for help from my family, knowing they’d easily dismiss it. Turns out she wanted to be in therapy, and I was able to get her help for free through community services, which was good thing as I didn’t have the money to fund therapy. You hear so many adults saying that they feel like they’re 16 or 20 inside, and if that’s the case, why don’t they remember that the feelings of children and teens are real and if they need help, they need help? I suspect like me they came from families that didn’t respect the field of psychology and were worried about what people would think versus the health of their child. They also probably figure they got through it and so teen struggle is normal-they can dismiss struggling as something the teen will get through. (True, most of us get through at any age and some commit suicide because they didn’t get the help they needed.) That’s similar to parents who say that they got beat as kids and they turned out fine as an excuse to use physical punishment.

Holy hell, I love this show and these two so much. Having this kind of story out there in the world is so important for our community. Dealing with the heavy topics with grace, but never pulling the mood down so far as to keep the show from feeling comfortable and warm. It’s a show that feels like a hug from someone you love, and honestly I think that’s invaluable. I’m especially so proud of Joe, he’s such a perfect fit for the role, and he’s only just a bit older then me so I can live vicariously through him and root for him differently then I could with a lot of actors, I can’t wait to see what he does next! Lots of love to Kit, Joe, Alice and the rest of the crew 🩵💛

Good interview with a very nervous Kit. It's easy to understand Kit's reactions, considering what a large group of fans would have done to him. Kit is just not the type of person who wants to be celebrated big and gives himself over completely to the rhum. That's what makes people so loving. He is obviously very nervous during this interview because almost not a second goes by without him rolling up his sleeve, stroking his hair and trying to hide his facial expressions. He is an actor who became very popular overnight. Kit and Joe gave the Heratstopper series everything you could imagine for such a success. Both very young people played more than Hollywood has offered in recent years. I wish both boys that they will find their way. All the best ....

Beautiful interview. Thank you so much for doing it. I remember the day my friend came up to me - we were at a training for therapists - and literally the first words out of her mouth was, You HAVE to watch Heartstopper. We are in our 50s and grew up queer in a very straight world. There was no representation on the screen at all. Just grew up watching all heterosexual romance. And later when shows/movies starting coming out with queer representation, they were mostly tragic heartbreaking stories. This is such a wonderful portrayal of love - and especially queer love. It's been so needed. Thank you for making it happen.

This show subverted so many tired tropes. I've always been so frustrated by drama that is created by misunderstandings that could easily be cleared up with the simplest communication. It's forcing the narrative in way that's isn't necessary and that you don't find as often in better films or fiction. There's a difference between creating conflict to keep the story moving and dragging that conflict out to fill time.

The cast must be getting used to PARIS for filming and also Fashion Week, Kit was chased in Paris like he was a BEATLE that must have been difficult and quite a surprise Everyone is curious as to how much french will be spoken in Season 2 🤩

They'll have him do his best, if they wanted a bilingual speaking actor, they would have chosen that one... Don't you all go getting weird if his French doesn't sound like you wanted it to sound... I wish we had film or tv show in my time that show that we are human beings. I was bullied and treated like I was a deceased because I was different. I was terrified to come out because I saw what happened to people who did come out. We saw bad things that happened to people by people who hated and spew dangerous poison words and actions that hurt. I even saw parents egging on their kids to be horrible to people they say were against God. I wish these people carefully would read the book cover to cover. Have an open mind when reading, you will realize that there are so many holes in the view of people who hate. Jesus says love and he sat with people who people say were sinners. All I hear is hate coming from people who push their views on other. We are all humans, I radar say Love, peace, friendship and I be open to care and love you first before spreading so much hatred. I can forgive those who hurt me if they truly admit that their words cause me pain and they honestly say maybe they were wrong. I can have compassion but not for the ones who do not have compassion and continue to do bad things without remorse. If the world has compassion, love and friendship we could be so much better, we can grow and become more than we are today. I came out to my parents and brothers, I was so terrified to the point that I almost pass out, however they told me that they love me and there is no difference in me. Our relationship is better now, no more secrets. I know that there are others who have a worse experience. My heart goes out to you. Do not let those who turn against you control your future. Sometimes family are those who support you and love you, not the ones you are born into. Have hope, love yourself, you are important, you are special. It will get better; you will find your real family who will love you and will make you feel safe.
