As a heat fan, I really do hate that Jimmy Butler and the Heat Organization are not on good terms. He did so much for our franchise and Pat Riley still refuses to move the right pieces around him. We got exposed twice in the finals for our size and our limitations on the offensive end due to our inconsistency. He took us to the NBA finals twice against a Boston Celtics team and a Milwaukee Bucks team stacked with better talent than our very own. He deserves praise than what he gets. If Pat Riley would just move the right pieces around him, we could have made some more noise in the playoffs, potentially making the NBA finals for a 3rd time in the same decade.

Butler is a hard trade because you can’t give up any youth comparable in salary.. you can’t give up too much based on injury history and age…Rockets is closest to it but even then 3 players are off limits Green, Sengun and Thompson..

The FA aspect is overblown. Currently, the only team that would have enough cap space to sign him at $52.4m (his option) is BKN (WAS are next with low $40s). Both are rebuilding. That HOU would need to incentivise taking on brooks & londale contracts, so extra picks need to be added. Green has a poison pill (ext), so that would be hard. Mavs will need to include klay or kyrie and only have about 1 1st available. GS is workable but would need to sell MIA on Wiggins' contract or compensate. Add compensation for melton, looney and/or gp2. Even with kuminga at least 1 needs to be added. But they do have 1sts available.
