So many tips shared in this episode. I could only imagine the same thing happening in one of your hands on workshop, you must have the patience of a saint. Great content, thanks for sharing.

Is there a problem with glueing from the top other than aesthetics? I managed to clamp it to a table with a silicone sheet under it and thought I’d give it a perimeter of super glue around it. Looks dead flat around the edges.

No, it would just be aesthetics.

That bow hatch ring recess activated my anxiety. I gave me a bit of relief that even Nick cracked it. He is human after all!😂. Much respect to you Mr. Schade.

I'm pretty confident that if I had used the heat gun I would have been fine.

"Ending it here" heck I was just getting into it, I was twisting and turning in my chair as you were fitting the hatch rings to the bottom pieces. Those stiffeners sure do help with the shape. That was a very helpful video on the hatch assembly. Nick, I do have a question on the last video lead in to the video you are surfing around Little Nargansette Bay in a kayak with a recessed compass. Can we add this modification to a Petrel Play boat? If so, do you have drawings for the modification? Is the compass a bulkhead mount unit? I have a compass for my Petrel Play for the upper deck but below the deck line would make it easier to access the boat if one had to reenter the cockpit in the open water from the bow. Thanks for this series it is extremely helpful.

I've done the recessed compass on my Runner design and my recent Petrel Sport design (plans still being edited), I have not made it available for other designs yet. It is integrated with a forward day hatch (AKA "Whiskey" hatch)

@@NickSchadewas that a bulkhead mounted compass on the recessed deck location? It looked like one from the quick shot of the deck. Thanks
@NickSchade9 ай бұрын
@@scottgorman7166 It is mounted in an extension of the front day hatch, not mounted to the bulkhead, so it is behind the bulkhead.

I'm not sure how it is that the CNC-cut pieces provided by CLC have bevels already on them. Is this possible using CNC now? Thanks.
@NickSchade9 ай бұрын
They hate that I have them do the bevels on the kit. It is a two step process. One pass with a "V" pointed bit to cut the bevel, then a second pass with a straight bit to cut the part out. This adds a lot of machine time for them, but saves the first time builder hours of work.

Ha ha! On behalf of all first-time boat builders, many thanks Nick! And many thanks to CLC for agreeing to do it @@NickSchade

It's funny to think how fragile those hatch rings are when you are assembling them knowing they will add a ton of strength once glassed.
