They barely made it into the first play-in tournament during that Finals run. That season was a fluke. Jimmy lead that team to the 9th spot of East that regular season.

Pat Riley should be fired! He has let this team down for the past four years. Pat has never provided Jimmy with the support he needs to win a championship. The Heat should have traded Jimmy this past offseason. Instead, they are trying to make Jimmy look like the villain.

Sure, Pat could have done more. BUT, Jimmy is making things worse. He didn't have to be toxic. It's reduced the chance of a good trade. His greed and impatience has made him a distressed asset.

Short and sweet. The Heat and Jimmy got to this point because Jimmy wants a max that he won't be worth. Contracts, especially max contracts, are awarded for what the team believes the player will be in the future, not what they were at one point in the past. Jimmy wants a legacy contract & he's screwing up his legacy for it.

Anthony, there are only two teams in the East that are title contenders: Boston and Cleveland. Replace Butler with anyone and they still are not a contender. This year is out for the Heat baring injuries on those two teams.
