The implication that because David and his mom Gloria didn’t have insurance, and David went with the cheapest care package meant that the hospital basically let her die so that they could shill funerary plans to him is one of those realizations that just instantly radicalizes someone.

I think it's honestly probably even darker then that. haven't seen anyone else mention this theory but with everything we know and have seen about Night City I don't think Gloria just up and died. 100% she came in and was scrapped for her chrome and organs by scavs working with the hospital staff. We even see an EMT try to do the same to David in ep 2.

One of the best parts of this show is that every location, sound effect, gun, car, etc, is ripped *straight* out of the game. I'm incredibly impressed by Studio Trigger's attention to detail. It's a new experience being able to visit the locations of your favorite moments from the show in game.

- Davids's mom (Gloria)is an Emergency Medical Technician. David said he saw her on TV taking the bodies away in the Ambulance and commented on it. -On the TV they said that the CyberPscho (killer) had his Cyberware go missing immediately after his body was taken away. -David going through his mom's stuff finds the missing Military Grade Cyberware in her bag. So, we now know how she is paying for him to get his education. -David Shows up to the Ripper Doc for upgrades while wearing his moms EMT jacket.

I don't think you could get away with selling valuable parts of cadavers that end up in YOUR ambulance under your time clocked in and not end up getting caught unless it was very very rare. So I think the bulk of it probably did come from her just murdering herself with hours and on rare occasions selling hardware to boost her income. Mostly because the show stresses how much she's just killing herself with work to pay for it so I imagine in reality her selling stolen parts was just an occasional boost when the part was worth too much for her to not give it a shot. Sad part is the more expensive the part the more likely she'd end up dead trying to flip it like that since either the hospital or the well off family members would be snooping that much harder into it. I'm sincerely astonished that the investigation into the missing TOP TIER MILITARY HARDWARE didn't end up leading back to "maybe the EMTs stole it" since I guarantee that's something that's happened a lot of times before in this city. Which is sort of the bulk of why I think she probably didn't do it often I guarantee hundreds of EMTs have been caught doing it before her so its on the radar. In Night City stealing something that hot the way she did feels like a death sentence.

At the beginning of the episode, David was watching a BD, or Brain Dance, it's basically like virtual reality but way more advanced. In the particular BD David was watching, he was reliving the final memories of the original person, emotions, feelings, etc etc, of the soldier dude that went Cyberpsycho attacking the cops. That's why David reeled in pain when the dude died at the end, David was feeling the same pain, but watered down. The BD David was watching was essentially a snuff film but in the Cyberpunk world BDs are versatile and can be used for a lot of things like Porn, gaining Intel, etc.

Some background information for those who haven't played the game and want to know a little bit of basic info about the world Cyberpunk is set in. The first scene is what they call a 'Brain Dance' in the Cyberpunk universe, Brain dancing is when you live through somebodies memories and experience it exactly how they experienced it. In terms of the city, it is essentially run by three major corporations, Arasaka, Militech, and Kang Tao, there are other major corporations but theses are the main ones that focus on developing new technologies like guns, armor, cyberware, as well as performing special missions for those that contract them. Though, you would have to be mega rich and have a lot of influence to afford their services. Night City does have a Police force (NCPD), cyberpsychosis force (MaxTac) aswell as NetWatch which overlooks and secures the Internet as well as containing the Blackwall which is a protocol to keep out rogue AI's from the DataKrash of 2022 when the net fell and corrupted AI. The most wanted job would be an office job working for one of the major corporations, but even at the top of that hierarchy you will still have coworkers that are secretly enemies looking for the right moment to use and then dispose of you to take your spot or maybe even go higher. Besides that, many fall to crime and either join a gang or become a mercenary. Mercenaries jobs can consist of protection, thievery, hacking, assassination, or basically anything dangerous. Mercenaries aren't directly contacted for the job by the client, usually the client goes to what is known as a fixer(middleman). They are the people with all the information and connection through out the city, some more renown than others.

The spinal implant was left by his mother. In the beginning, David was using a Braindance (BD for short) to experience the last memories of that psycho. His mother was shown as one of the paramedics to recover the real body of that incident, and the news said that his implant was missing. Later, David found that missing implant among his mother's things.

Also, Cyberpunk the tabletop RPG was the first of its kind and its creator-Mike “St. Mike” Pondsmith-is one of the founding RPG figures (especially outside the D&D lines) back in the 1980s, one of the first impactful black creators in the space, and also created the first western mech RPG (he was in EARLY on the anime scene in the United States). He’s also a hell of a guy, and played the conspiracy theory/secret history spouting DJ of Morrow Rock Radio in the videogame.

Props to the devs of the game tho and the game company. They could have abandoned the game like many huge studios like UbiSoft, Bethesda, TakeTwo etc but they are constantly working on improving it with no further profit incentive. They are even releasing free DLC. The game was probably bad at launch probably because the investors rushed them to publish it. Now its a great game and keeps on getting better

Coolest part about the show (in my opinion) is that almost EVERY single place you see in the background is also in the game. Not to mention music, guns, abilities, etc. are also present in the game.

Not a very high end PC if you don't care about that much for FPS and graphics. I run fine on medium settings on a Ryzen 5700G with integrated graphics at 40 fps. I do have a SSD though, highly recommended for this game.

Cyberpunk 2077 has received multiple patches since it's unfortunate launch 2 years ago. Y'all should really try it. So glad yall watching dub - people nowadays just fetishize the Japanese language (but that's beside the point). The terms/slang in this world actually doesn't translate in the Japanese audio. Besides the world was created by an American (black man at that), and the Edgerunners story is written by the game developers CD Projekt Red. Hope other reactors check this out too. P.S. The world building is amazing. Every location in the game (besides the moon) you can go to in the game. CDPR gave Studio Trigger documents for the world when they were making this too - some dope creative teamwork.

The scene that we saw in the beginning with that guy who can slow time is called XBD. There are a tech in Cyberpunk called Brain Dance (BD), it's basically a VR but more advance because you are literally reliving a memory from a person in first POV (with all 5 senses). So, you can felt that person emotion, what he saw, his wounds, etc. XBD stands for Extreme Brain Dance which is illegal in Cyberpunk. A Brain Dance (BD) can be specified as XBD if it includes memory of a person that got killed, torture, etc that can harm the person who use that BD. You can experience death without dying or having an experience on what is like to be burned alive if you want, basically. It's kinda hard to explain, you guys should play the game.

Little bit more context on what David had on his head. It wasn’t a game but it was a BD short for Brain-dance it’s basically what it sounds like, it puts you in a simulation of someone else’s experiences and you get the full feed back of it all till the BD ends it’s like selling Go pro experiences with the extra factor of giving whoever watches the BD the 5 sense stimulation aswell. In the game they talk about how certain content like robberies, and shootouts with police and max tax that sell for significantly higher on the black market in the Night City.

What I love about that first scene with the cyber psycho is that many reactors first think it’s a game, which to many people in the cyberpunk world would liken those BD’s to watching a movie or a game. The vast difference in morality that the characters have versus our morals is interesting to compare.

There's a lot of reasons this series works, this first episode in particular is it does a fantastic job of establishing sympathy for the main character. At its core, Cyberpunk as a genre was always a cautionary tale about corporate greed left unchecked. The first episode in particular really hits close to home for a lot of folks, in terms of the hardships faced in a commercial society.

throwing a bunch of mods on the pc version makes the game WAYYYY better. Flying cars, the Edgerunner Lucy mods, drone crafting, and gps on screen rather than the minimap. Its so worth it. There are so many more mods too and theyre so easy to install. When you guys say GTA in the future, the mods really make it that. Only more immersive with the story in my opinion.
