I was there, to see Casino. Burbank AMC 16 Made my heart sink that I wasn't there for it, even though Casino was good and over time became a classic ( better than GF for me), calm down! I know. Saw it a couple of weeks after, leaning forward, clutching the seat in front of me throughout the movie. God it was good. Miss the 90's.

I still remember watching it in the cinema. They still had intermissions back then. I didn’t move in the intermission. It was right after the coffee shop and I just froze in anticipation for the next scene. Phenomenal.

My dad took my mom to see the Godfather when they were dating in the early 70s so I grew up with Pacino and DeNiro, and I took my mom to see this film in some dumpy little theater in Connecticut but it was still amazing

No one pairs action and an existential soul better than Michael Mann. From Miami Vice, Last of the Mohicans, Collateral, hell - even the Miami Vice remake -- Mann always delivers a SOUL within the gray space that is palpable. You feel the heart of his characters - both good guys and bad guys, their flaws, their hopes, dreams, and pain. Heat does that in spades. Perhaps the best, and a nearly perfect, crime drama. EVERYONE's lives are touched, and there really aren't any 'winners' in the end - a lot of lives ruined, ended, torn apart - but somehow you come away with the sense that it's 'right' in the end, and the sun will rise again tomorrow.

Everyone was great in this but Al Pacino was awesome playing the cop role. I really enjoyed the subtle things where he says after a long day of work pouring a bourbon, “I’d come home to burnt chicken” or something like that with his wife cooking lol. 😅
