Hi Pete from Australia again. Just started watching the upload and heard you mentioned the dos automatic dispense system on the Miele. As you know I've been a tech for over 20 years and guess what system fails on the miele washing machine with automatic dispense system. Yes it's the dispense system. The common fault is it starts to leak causing flood fault error. The customer can still use the manual dispenser draw but if I've paid big dollars for automatic dispense why would I use it. Just thought I would let you know. Customers actually trade in their Mieles because it's way too expensive to repair when they can do it manually. LOL. Luv the channel. Pete from Australia

Only thing I’d like to mention is the higher rotational speed during the spin cycle of the smaller Miele washer does not always equal a higher centripetal acceleration when compared the larger slower spinning drums of the GE/LG combos. This is keeping in mind they are both in different classes since we are compare dedicated to combo units. I haven’t done the math, but a 1300 rotational speed on a 5 cubic foot unit could have a higher centripetal force than the higher speed 1600 rpm of the 2.4 cubic foot Miele. Kind of like comparing apples to oranges, but it’s important to remember when comparing the small German units currently on the market versus any newer larger models from any manufacturer.

So noted. I owned a Miele years ago. It spins the clothes pretty dry. You also have to calculate the amount of clothes as well.

The Dutch Consumer Reports actually test residual moisture weight of clothes after spin. Miele 1600rpm (in 9kg /20lbs drums) is way always on top of LG and Samsung (even with bigger capacity and similar specs) and only a little better than Bosch/Siemens (BSH group). Keep in mind a bigger load drum will also generally contain more clothes so more water. But in the tests they equal this out to same loads.

I have the GE Ultrafast, I’m now averaging 3 hour run times and at the end clothes are still damp. The lint filter trap is flawed, there is blow-by at the rear of filter and allows the lint to get past and accumulate in the heat pump condenser fins. I really wanted this system to work as it frees up a lot of space in a small laundry room, but it doesn’t work.
@natecaplin43747 ай бұрын
Thanks again! Still would appreciate more detail on the LG heat pump washtower…. How is it that lint isn’t a problem with it if the dryer is ventless, it has coils, and just uses a standard lint filter like vented dryers? I know vented WashTower’s certainly let lint into their vents, so wouldn’t the heat pump dryer in the WashTower let lint past it filter to gum up the coils, too? I get and agree with the notion that the WashTower with heat pump dryer would have an advantage over the WashCombo from having a larger dryer to let the clothes from a smaller washer have more room to tumble dry. But, does the heat pump in the WashTower have any more power or heating capacity than the one in the WashCombo? If not, why does it require a 240V/30A circuit while the WashCombo needs only 120V/15A?
@YaleAppliance17 ай бұрын
Good questions.....washers remove lint as it turns out. So the WashTower doesnt have the issues of the combos. The WashTower has shorter cycle times as well. We will have a video comparing both soon.
@spazzman907 ай бұрын
I've had a LG combo for a month now. Yeah, the coils will grab some lint and you need to clean them probably every 10 loads. It is very simple and takes a couple mins. Even more importantly, this unit just creates less lint overall. Like along the lines of 15-25% of what you are used to. It's that significant.
@davedebang-bang61687 ай бұрын
Heat pumps normally have 2 or 3 filters, 1 filter like normal that needs cleaning every time you empty the dryer and the others just require being g cleaned once a month, this helps keep Lint out of the rest of the machine
@natecaplin43747 ай бұрын
Thanks. Looking forward to the video. One question, though, about the statement “washers remove lint”…. If so, then wouldn’t the combo units also remove lint during their wash cycles and flush it out of the drain with the water just like a standalone washer does-before the dry cycle even starts?

I have a 10yr old Asko washer and 16yr old Asko Condenser dryer. The Asko absolutely beats Miele, both for washing effectiveness and also being gentler (something which Miele places absolute emphasis on). My Asko machines are domestic units, primarily used at home for personal use but I often launder hotel linens (kitchen towels, bed linen and table cloths) during busy periods. I have purchased both a Miele Professional washer and dryer for use at the hotel and whilst great machines (very expensive)… they do not compare to the quality of the domestic Asko units, the Asko machines simply do a far better job in terms of washing ability and build quality. The Asko units have stainless steel inner & outer drums, spins at 1800rpm, perform better, and the build quality of the steel just feels superior. The Asko washer is definitely louder over Miele, but they also don’t have the rubber bellow seal at the door🤷♂️ The Miele Professional dryer has already required a belt replacement and (whilst completely unrelated) a mates 8yr old Miele washing machine has had to have the motor brushes replaced.

If your store sells Miele but does not know how to fix it, they destroy the unit. Happened on our 10 year old Miele washer where the washer cycle got confused so when you made a selection on the display, the machine did the wrong cycle. The repair man came, "fixed it by reprograming it," left and when we tried to use the machine it ran in half the time it used to - and did not work at all! They came back and said that is how it worked. Except now it did not clean anything. Tried a second place, they failed to fix it as well. So we are done with Miele. We bought LG because people near us know how to fix it and Miele only lasted 10 years. However, the compact dryer is still the original Miele which is now 22 years old but seems to be failing now so we don't know what to replace it with.

@@YaleAppliance1 (Michael again using my other account) Purchased from Lowes (NEVER AGAIN!) new in May of 2021. Luckily I got the Bosch extended warranty...unluckily the guy they sent out's first question was had I cleaned the exhaust vent yet 🤬 I had to explain to him that it was a heat pump and didn't have an exhaust vent. He contacted someone on his phone who accused me of installing it incorrectly and told me I needed to "read the manual" to get it installed correctly. Besides the fact that Lowes installed it, I asked why it worked perfectly for two years if it was installed incorrectly. He then asked the guy with me to recheck the top drawer and started yelling at him when he told him whatever part he had asked about was there. Anyway, he told him to vacuum it, which did nothing about all of the lint and hair on the condenser because he couldn't reach it. When he told me he was finished, I said to him that I thought the problem was that water no longer gets pumped to the top and therefore doesn't get released to clean the condenser. The evidence I offered was the bone-dry drawer and the fact that I no longer hear the water flushing during the cycle. More consultation via phone and then told me they had to order a water pump. That was in JULY and still no pump as of today.

"15-20 years" life expectancy is terrible for a unit that sits in an air conditioned home. My Maytag Atlantis has been operating for 24 years and I just had the first failure. The water pump. Replaced and working again for 25.00. These Miele are 2499 MSRP. For that price and a unit made in Germany the life expectancy should be 30 years+. Also, I have seen a video here which states that the mobile connectivity is "not active on these units". Can you comment on which Miele have mobile connectivity please. Love your channel.
