Heated exchanges between Mpofu and Madonsela

Heated exchanges between former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela and Adv. Dali Mpofu dominated proceedings in Parliament yesterday. Madonsela was testifying before the Section 194 Committee probing her successor Busisiwe Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office. Mpofu and Madonsela argued about the changes she made in her affidavit to the impeachment inquiry. Michelle Craig speaks to chairperson of the committee Richard Dyantyi.

The Hon. Richard Dyantyi has made a valiant effort to ensure that the objectives of the Committee were the focus of the participants. However, he let too many insults and snide remarks by Adv. Mpofu pass and did not even challenge him when Mpofu referred to the proceedings as a 'kangaroo court'. He needs to take a firm hand and prevent this individual from continually insulting the parliamentary process.

He is heading an enquiry that has already made a decision on the matter before them. That's incredibly frustrating to him and to be honest, he hasn't been patience with the current PP from the beginning because they thought this was just a formality and they'd be done in no time. Square that with the veiled condescending nature and rudeness of Adv Mpofu and you get what we've been getting so far. An enquiry of insults and time wasting.
