Don't let a dealership charge you hundreds or thousands of dollars to replace the leaking heater core in your Dodge Magnum, Dodge Charger, or Chrysler 300. Instead, do it yourself in a couple of hours. I'll show you how to complete your heater core replacement without completely taking the dash apart or dropping the steering wheel.
Here's the part I used for the heater core:

Your video made my day. While changing the heater core all 3 linkage rods fell off the actuator. I searched and searched to no avail. Luckfully your video shows great pictures of all 3 linkage rods.!!!! Your My HERO !! thanks

I currently own a 2006 Magnum SRT8 with 147k on ODO, and know this day will eventually arrive, you took all the fear out of doing this job. I knew it was somewhat easy from AllData book time, but at least don’t have to pull dash and AC box like 99% of other vehicle on the planet, great video, Thank you!!!

I’m a little jealous. I would love to have a 6.1 Hemi in my magnum. What color is your SRT8? Glad you liked the video.

@@F.A.F.O.818 that’s awesome. I’ve been daily driving my 05 R/T for 9 years and I still love it. It’s not immaculate, but would look great with a good detail inside and out. Still runs just as good as the day I got it.

@@TorqueWagon That was my first love, 2005 silver Magnum RT with a bunch of mild mods, traded it in for a 2013 335i, which I shouldn’t have done. Ended up with a 2016 435i (I was working for BMW at the time), got a wild hair and found the SRT8 on a used car lot in Fullerton. Everybody thought I was nuts, but now they get it. I even installed Paddle shifters in it, has Pioneer with wireless CarPlay, mildly modded, still a fun car to drive. I’ll post a vid one day and send link

This was the first video that popped up on a you tube search and needed some reference on location. I figured it would be on the passenger side like most vehicles. The heater core in my daughters '08 R/T needs replaced, and this will be a super easy fix. I'm glad I'm small enough to stand on my head under that dash. Thanks for putting this video together. 👍

Not sure if it’s the heater core yet, all I’ve been noticing is no cold air and refrigerant is leaking somewhere, but I’ve seen videos of ppl taking apart the whole dash 😭😭 good to no there’s some wiggle room now at least, might try uv dying the system and seeing if anything’s visible. Great video!!

This does NOT work if you have a motorized steering column. It completely blocks you from pulling it out. No amount of turning the wheel will help.

Go for it! It’s not super complicated, but requires some gymnastics because of the location and tight clearances.

I like how you said offset to the left is top offset to the right is bottom but you could flip it upside down and the left offset would then be on the right at the bottom and the right offset at the bottom would become the top at the left. Think about it

I don’t know what year you have but the 2008 DOES NOT come out that easy. You can turn the wheel for an hour but the steering column stays in the way. Also when reinstalling it gets hung up on something BIG TIME. Like there is a brick in the slot

It should slide in and out like a book on a bookshelf, except the video has a manual steering column and I have a power steering column and I don't have some space that the manual steering column allows. I may have to unbolt something to move the column about an inch farther towards the seat..

So ive repaired my heater core 2 times already and all it was, was those clips at 6:05 become really loose to where they start spewing out all that antifreeze especially if i floor my car to get on highway speeds. Why is that happening? I could’ve sworn they were tight as hell but they still come lose. Any tips?
@TorqueWagon
@TorqueWagon 11 ай бұрын
I had some trouble with the clips as well and for me it just came down to making sure the lines were fully seated against the flanges on the heater core before installing the clips. It was really easy to think they were secured correctly when they actually weren’t. I don’t know if that’s the issue you’re having, but that’s what was causing a leak for me.

Which type of clip did you switch the bottom line to? My heater core is leaking from that clip.
@TorqueWagon

I used the original clip on the bottom which is just a compression type clip. It leaked when I used the clip with the screw.
