I LOVE this Abandoned Boudoir everything about it is amazing and beautiful. There's a certain poignancy to it as well, because the word boudoir comes from the old French word for 'sulking'. So a boudoir came to mean 'a woman's sulking room'.

They don't have to depict windows. A blacksmith could make this design as a gate or fence. Also, the Victorians were able to make iron buildings that resembled Gothic architecture. Neglect the paint and the iron would rust.
@thenar3 жыл бұрын
Heather, I use this real rust a lot in my miniatures. I've discovered that Dulle Cote does not tone down the rust. You need a dead flat varnish and they are hard to come by and expensive, but dull coate sells in small quantities at an affordable price.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! if this is a sneak peak at what is coming I can hardly wait for next week!! these windows are awesome!!! @@Thicketworks while i have you on the line, a few quick questions. Do you have experience cutting plasticard with the cricut and if you don't how thick chipboard can it cut? Also, that iron paint seems rather interesting but possibly finicky (beyond just being carfull with the bottle) how stable is the end result over time? Thanks
@Thicketworks5 жыл бұрын
@Nicholas Tousignant I have not yet experimented with plasticard or styrene sheets - although both of these substances are on the growing list of materials to experiment with. Since styrene can be 'snapped' once it's scored, I'm pretty confident that this will work, even if the machine doesn't cut all the way through. Plasticard? Not so sure, but definitely interested to find out. As far as heavy chipboard goes, The Maker can cut up to 2mm thick chipboard. It can also cut 3/32" thick Balsa wood. The list of materials it has been tested with is astronomical. As far as the Iron Paint goes, I've seen it used on very large outdoor projects (with appropriate sealers, of course) that have withstood the test of time. It's a fantastic product. Hope this helps, my friend. xoxo
@nicolastousignant91605 жыл бұрын
@@Thicketworks plasticard, as i understant it is styrene (possibly a brand name, now that i think about it) so that is good to know. I work quite a bit with the stuff and while it has its limitations it is one of my favorite materials to use. Do the rust spots on the iron paint gain texture as well as the color?
@Thicketworks5 жыл бұрын
@@nicolastousignant9160 Thanks for the info on plasticard. The texture is minimal with the commercial iron paint. You can actually mix your own iron paint, as well. It's hugely important to protect your lungs from the particles, but you can add Iron Powder to just about any paint, mix thoroughly and create a thicker, more textured surface that will oxidize with exposure to Peroxide, etc. Here's the stuff I have used: amzn.to/2oZZubt

@Thicketworks5 жыл бұрын
Hi @mel austen - you are correct - that IS what the packaging says...however, I have several projects assembled after the ZIG 2 Way has dried, and even after a year, they have remained intact. Alternatively, use either E-6000 or FabriTac or 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue (in very controlled and small amounts!) to achieve a bond you can feel completely confident about. So happy your doing another diorama. Looking forward to seeing what you create with this one since the last one was so awesome.
