I view these films with mixed emotions and very fond memories, I am very glad that the Heatherwood Hospital site still has a Hospital there however seeing the wards and department I worked in, in that state and now gone, I do feel a tinge of sadness it just goes to prove that it's not just a building that makes a fine Hospital and Heatherwood was fine in it's heyday, however it's the people who worked or volunteered in whatever capacity there, and the community it served that makes a caring environment. As for the Staircase sign stating the obvious, that was down to the then Superintendent Physiotherapist Miss Burt who at the time of department relocation from next door to the out patients department to the old kitchen and staff dining room and the move had to be completed in a fairly short space of time, well she was suffering from ME at the time and with a bit of brain fog kicking in on a bad day requested Mr Berry and Mr Chitty from the works department to put a load of signs up and both being men of many years of marriage under their belts, knew not to question and certainly never argue 😅
