Great vid as usual. One of the best things about your videos is they are not overly produced or edited - they are more real life! So I prefer them without the music! Thanks for your help with these vids.

Great videos , just a small point, a gate valve wheel head fits the isolator valve , no need to fiddle around with an adjustable spanner

I use the spanner because I feel like I have more control with it. Also the wheel head hurts my hands. :-/

i keep a red wheel head in my veto for pump changes, makes it easier to turn the valves off rather than my 4" bahco, easier to re-isolate in case of emergency too :)

I’m same as you, changed pumps in different ways another option i like is to bung the vent n feed if you need to change the valves for whatever reason.

Great vid as usual mate. Tighten before you loosen is a good way around no heat. 3rd pin is for auto adapt on those pumps so it can modulate to set up the curve I would think.

@@HeatingGeek I would think its live neutral and signal wire that increases resistance under load and sends it to the board on the pump to tell it to speed up. Got one in the shed will have a look. I should be able to sus it being a sparky and a gas engineer lol.

What pump was that? I only keep Grundfos on the van & usually just swop the head if bunging the system! Always best to change the body tho as the inlet & outlet can get pretty blocked on a dirty system 🙂

A lot of variable speed motors these days are actually 3 phase rather than single. You may well find there is electronic wizardry that’s generating the 3 phase in the controller board.

Always follow the instructions and locate the electrical plug at the bottom of the pump , for electrical safety and if working with Smart pumps Display will be right way up .

Great video full of tips. Having background music is good, but in this case it did sound a bit naff! Another thought, could you get a go pro camera and strap it to yourself? Saves you doing jobs one handed.

If you don't like the red gate valve head get one of them mutli keys? Think that's what called fits gas meter boxes etc one of the ends fits gate valves

Hmmm those 3 electrical pins all having the same resistance would indicate a 3 phase motor, I know in industry you can get single phase drives that power 3 phase motors.

@@HeatingGeek i know it sounds mad! It's very difficult to pull it apart anyway with just your hands. The vacuum isn't strong enough to pull it apart it makes a great water tight seal. Also i don't shove it in deep just the tip. Just like the nun said to the priest. Lol

Bit harsh telling DIYers that pump-changing is too risky. Just drain down then do it: no risk of floods. DIYers have time. Some useful tips on getting the flange nuts off here. I've got two that really don't want to come off. Grumble. And I only have myself to blame as I put it on 18 months ago (and yes not very impressed with posh solar pump (UPM3) that blew up that soon)

Circulating pump CP50 (Wolseley). I don't have a preference. The customer pays for the part and I make no mark up so I couldn't care less. They get what they want. In my house I would fit a Grunfos of an old stock old type pump. None of this new unreliable stuff. :-)

Thanks. I use to remove the nuts with a hammer (when I was scrapping) I will cut the music out. The 3" chisel sounds good. Don't the customers keep poking there head around the door when you make that much noise? :-)
