I only have the demo until my plotter arrives later today. For years I used Flexi, which worked perfect with SVGs I made in Inkscape. Those same type of files import into signmaster with pieces out of place. It is closer to correct if I save it out of inkscape as a DXF file.

Yes, definitely. You just need to adjust the blade depth and force so it only pierces through the top layer, leaving your carrier sheet intact.

Hi Jane! I am so sorry, but I'm not familiar with that machine. If I'm being completely honest, I've only used the pen plotter tool a handful of times on our VinylSystems machines (because my primary focus is cutting HTV). When I have used the pen plotter, I sent the jobs just as I would with a regular cut job, but with the blade offset at 0 and mirror mode turned off. That's done the trick for me in the past.
