Hi Joris - Thanks for stopping by our channel and checking out our video. There is a wide array of CFD packages on the market: self-hosted, cloud based, and open source. The various CFD packages have their pluses and minuses. In our labs, we have used: 6SigmaET, FloTHERM, Autodesk CFD, Solidworks, DNS (direct numerical simulation; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_numerical_simulation), and in house developed tools. So the question of which one is best adapted is one which is based on application. The tools we use can be applied to a broad domain of thermal management modeling needs. But CFD alone doesn't tell the whole story. We have an internal design discipline that doesn't rely just on CFD but includes analytical modeling (using our in house tools) and physical testing via wind tunnels, water tunnels, smoke flow visualization, and other approaches. Let me give you a quick rundown of some of the CFD packages. If this is for your own personal (hobby, education), you might be best of with a SimScale to start. If you are experienced and this is for your company, jumping down to the self-hosted list might be your best bet. Packages would include: - OpenFOAM (probably one of the most widely used) www.openfoam.com/ AI - AI tech would be part of a CFD software package, Siemens has a nice article on this here: blogs.sw.siemens.com/simcenter/4-myths-about-ai-in-cfd/ - Diabatix: I highlighted this company with their cloud based tool as they have a somewhat unique approach that is cool to checkout for AI for heat sink design: www.diabatix.com/ Cloud: This isn't so much a single tool as a way to tap into commercially available CFD tools at reasonable prices using a hardware stack that best meets your cost/compute needs. - Rescale www.rescale.com/ - Amazon AWS CFD aws.amazon.com/hpc/cfd/ - SimScale www.simscale.com/ (FYI they have a free license level for education and hobbyist, a helpful article for beginners is here www.simscale.com/blog/2019/04/cfd-analysis-for-beginners/ ) Self Hosted: There is a huge number of options and the companies would include: - Future Facilities 6SigmaET www.6sigmaet.info/ - Ansys www.ansys.com/products/fluids - Autodesk www.autodesk.com/products/cfd/overview - Siemens FLOtherma www.plm.automation.siemens.com/global/en/products/simcenter/flotherm.html - Dassault Solidworks www.solidworks.com/product/solidworks-flow-simulation - Resolved Dynamics, a professional engineering firm, has an interesting article on this topic here: www.resolvedanalytics.com/theflux/comparing-cfd-software - CFD-Online also has a list, though I'm not sure it is very current www.cfd-online.com/Wiki/Codes

Thanks for leaving your comment @marlinhoward1730 You bring up a very important point about EV. I'm not sure we are the best team to talk about EV fail over in case the systems decided to shut down operation of a vehicle. It might be good to ping the various EV manufacturers on their strategies for that.
